Does anyone know what this box is?

I was installing my XM Direct system in my boot tonite and found this curious looking little box. I was wondering if anyone knows what it is? Is it part of the H/K system?

Wow, you went all out installing the XMDirect tuner. How do you like it so far?

I figured out what it is but have no idea why it's in my car and not in others I have seen. It's a diversity reciever for the antenna. By the way XM direct absolutely rocks.

I don't have Sat or Nav. Perhaps it's 2003 model year thing.

I Have seen pic of that box before in another thread. I remember it being the box that your ariel antenna or Sat Nav antenna plugs into.

Rich. XM is one of two satelite radio network providers. XM is less expensive than the other, Sirius. MINI has a deal with Sirius, dealers are tending toward XM for the better overall deal. I've ridden in and driven an XM equipoed MCS courtesy of FDNYPD of MINI of Fairfield. We drove all around the hills and vales of Putnam county on the Reservoir Dogs Meet. Great reception. Discreet antenna. Excellent variety of programming. Some commercial, some not. I'll never buy it.

Cheers,
g

From "MINI Complete":
the MINI includes an antenna diversity system which uses the heated rear window in addition to the rod aerial

The attached pic is a screenshot from the manual, showing the "mystery box". I hate to disagree with Mikey but in this one case, he is not correct!

Happy Holidays to all.

Just a quick note: not all markets get this option as standard fitment. Don't think the Oz cars get it at all. The only time we get a box mounted in that postion is when you order Sat nav or phone prep, and then you don't get the rod aerial on the roof, you get the shark fin.
