INSANE pictures of MINIs from CES

I just returned from the CES (consumer electronics show) in Las Vegas. The MINI was a very hot item for car audio this year. What Alpine did to theirs is almost criminal, but oddly you can't stop looking at it.

Anyway, check out my pictures here:

And I thought removing the airbag warnings from my visors was a big deal.

OMG, someone actually posted on MINI2 wondering if it was possible to fit a BMW 3 spoke steering wheel onto a MINI - incredibly, in one of your pictures Kurster one of the audio installers did exactly that in their MINI!!! And to think we were telling that guy it wasn't possible

Kurtster, did you get a chance to see the head unit with the integrated iPod interface that Alpine said they were going to show at CES?

Unbelieveable! Wow now I think BMW should speak to Alpine about the convertible before they let out the `normal` one! hehe! Think they need some ideas!

I have a Liquid Yellow/Black Cooper with the Chilli Package, 17" S-spoke Alloys, Panoramic Sunroofs, ASC+T, the factory Tinted windows, 6-disk changer and the Multi Function Steering Wheel !!! ALSO HAVE FITTED A JCW EXHAUST !!!

Question about that Alpine vehicle - where would the driver sit?

It took me a while to figure that one out. There's a sliding platform that runs down the center of the vehicle with the centrally-located seat attached to it. The platform is slid out in the pictures, exposing the floor-mounted amps, so the seat (if you can call it that) is toward the rear of the vehicle. It looks like something taken from an alien space craft.

That's correct. The single seat slides forward. There's a black area for foot placement, and the seat was a clear plastic contour for sitting. Totally bizarre.

The Alpine / iPod connector was behind a glass case. It was the thing i wanted second most, next to a Sony Qrio robot.

Why, Oh why would you want to add all of that krap weight to a sport car? Talk about killing the performance. He could have done it to a Civic or a Cleo and who would have cared!

The best sound system on a MINI is the wail of the supercharger as it passes 4,000rpm.

imho

Woah, thats some hardcore ICE. Looks like fun, although I would imagine that it would be a bit tricky getting the kids in the back of the Alpine car for a trip to the mall...
