Offline | Fitting Custom Gear Knob I was thinking of fitting a custom gear knob to my MO but i'm not sure of fitting type. The gear knob i'm looking at is stated as having a "Rubber Gromet fitting", would this suit a MO? 2004 IB/IB MINI |

| miniturismo co uk | Don't buy a replacement gear knob without checking out the Whalen Shift Machine. There are countless happy customers on MINI2 (including myself ) and countless forums showing the possible styles Doug Whalen can create for you.Have a quick search in this forum for "Whalen" Cheers Stuart |

Offline | I'm looking for a sort-of skull gear knob. Its just that i use skulls and other such things in my artwork (and yes before you make funny comments, I AM employed in the computing industry but i do publish artwork) and was trying to see if i could get such a gear knob for my mini. I'm guessing however that Doug Whalen couldnt make such a gear knob... I'd just like to mention the fact that i'm not some kind of death-freak or goth-style dude since i use skulls and suchlike in my artwork. I'm actually a techno-freak who's into computers + MINIs!!2004 IB/IB MINI |

Offline | No, I would not be able to make the knob in a skull shape, but I could engrave a skull, if you have a drawing. Wouldn't be a lot different from this pirate, I suppose. |

| MINI2 Overdose! | I saw a Black MCS at Bingley Hall on the 25/01 and they had a cooper badge as their centre piece on the gearknob I thought it was stunning and would like one for my gear knob now. I'm not sure if the owner is a member here but I would be intrested in finding out if it was an inset to the top of the knob or whether the whole knob had been made specially. BTW does anyone know if the centre piece actually comes off on the gearknob ( the bit thats got the gears shown on it )? ![]() When I nod my head...... hit it! ![]() ![]() |

Offline | That looks like anodized aluminum. I've decided not to make aluminum knobs. I haven't gotten many requests for them, and anodizing is kind of expensive to have done in small quantities. Sorry! Doug |

| Grinny's the Mini 4 me! | My regular semi leather knob is very cold in the winter, does any one find the metal shift machines' knobs get even colder? I imagine they would, but do they? Thinking of getting one. Ian M Grinny the mini - Trippin the light fantastic! |

Offline | Not too clever If it's anything like as stiff as the knob (!?!) in my old 3 series BM then be carefull (or less stupid than me). Pulled like crazy to get it off, unfortunately when it did suddenly give way, my hand very kindly introduced the gearknob to my forehead! Maybe it's just me though. When i tried to remove the (non-airbag) streering wheel from the same car, I removed the retaining nut but the wheel was stuck tight on the shaft. So started hitting the wheel sharply towards me to try and loosen it. I think you can guess the outcome. Learn form my mistakes Dink Dank Doo! |

Offline | If it's a fairly complex design, I need a DXF file of it. Otherwise I can probably just draw it myself, from a jpeg file. In case you come up with a design that DOES require a DXF file, we have a real good source, right here on the forum, who can convert to that format. |
