England Sat Nav Volume

Has anybody else experienced this problem?

1. Turn on radio and adjust volume to suit.
2. Switch on Sat Nav to find out where I am supposed to be pointing my MINI.
3. The nice lady in my Sat Nav system speaks at a predetermined volume (adjusted with Menu/Settings/Sat Nav Volume).
4. Bored with radio, so I listen to an MD...but I have to turn up the volume to hear the tracks (much quieter than FM), but that isn't a problem.
5. The next set of directions from my Sat Nav are now being shouted at me (its like having my wife sat in the car with me! ).
6. So I adjust the volume knob on the radio to turn down the Sat Nav direction volume.
7. The MD starts playing again at the volume I had selected at 4, everything is OK.
8. But then the Sat Nav gives me another direction and it is shouting at me again .
9. The only way to stop the shouting is to go into the Menu/Settings/Sat Nav Volume and make adjustments ...not recommended at 70mph on the motorway .
10 But then, if I want to listen to my radio again, I need to turn the radio volume down, which means I cannot hear any Sat Nav directions without re-setting the Menu/Settings/Sat Nav Volume yet again.

According to the Boost MD handbook, by adjusting the radio volume knob as a Sat Nav direction is being given, the Sat Nav will assume the new volume setting until a further adjustment is made.
My system is not doing this, it reverts back the Menu/Settings/Sat Nav Volume setting.

I took it to the dealer...the technician agreed something was wrong.
The car was booked in for a software update...but that made no difference what so ever!

Does anybody have any suggested resolutions?

I only have the SFSW, but turning the knob on the radio should have the same effect as you state, but on mine, the volume reverts back again!

Happens with mine too, although I've never looked upon it as a fault as such. You should be able to find a happy medium where the volume is OK with radio on or off if you experiment for a bit.

I thought I should read the book again

It turns out that the "Sound Stage" needed some tweaking...it sets the Sat Nav minimum volume.

That seemed to do the trick, however the radio doesn't mute now when a travel direction is given, but the MD does!

Perhaps there is another hidden command to adjust the "maximum muted" volume .

Is the "sound stage differnet than the voluem setting on the NAV settings screen? I've got her voice set to the lowest possible setting and even at reasonable radio volumes she's about 85db (not good).

I'd love to be able to turn her minimum volume level lower but it must be someplace outside of the regular settings screens.

Hi Kurtster,
You can adjust the stage volume by pressing the button with the "musical note" icon at the far left of the stereo head unit.
You need to keep it pressed for a few seconds, then some options appear.
Press the button again and again until "Nav Min" appears, then rotate the volume knob to set the level.

I had to set mine with the stereo and Sat Nav adjusted to suit playing MDs to get a reasonable overall volume control.

I haven't got the manual to hand at the moment, but just ask if you need any more info.

I never did thank you for this Cooper Man. It is a really valuable piece of advice and it worked like a charm.

I still haven't figured out which thingy to press and hold on the AC to prevent the leafblower effect on the windscreen (I want my auto air to go to my face instead of the dash). I read something about it online but prssed and held every button to change it. Anyway, Now I'm way off topic. THanks again Cooper Man. YOu are the best.

Glad to be of service!
Although I know nothing about your A/C problem...knowing how to reset it would be good, if only to stop Buzzlightyear from "falling with style" - he is hanging from my mirror and gets into a bit of a frenzy when A/C is on 'super-chill' !
