Offline | I just ordered the MINI kit (84 11 0 302 897) from Classic Auto and they are claiming my kit will come in on Wednesday. Total price is $360 + shipping. The parts list scooby has looks more like a BMW kit than a MINI kit. The X5 does receive a replacement console with phone charging/antenna docking cradle. I can't imagine where in the MINI console they can fit the cellphone. Also the X5 installation instructions show a recommended time of 7.5 hours. Sean |

Offline | Have a look at the DIY section www.newministuff.com. Will take a first timer 2 hours, no choping or splicing wires. |

| Just along for the ride | Classic sells all it's parts for around 20% below list price, heck worse comes to worse buy the part from Classic and then give it to Sterling to install. Sterling will charge you the same for labor if you get the parts from them or not... |

Offline | Just got my Bluetooth kit and I must say that I am very not impressed. I'm hoping there will be a better kit in the future but I am not hopeful. The kit is universal in that will work in all MINIs 9/02 or later regardless of MFSW or headunit. There are three parts and one wiring harness. The core is the control module which is installed behind the speedometer. Part two is the microphone in the headliner and the third part is a five button remote control that attaches to a bracket on the right of the stereo head unit. The remote has a call/hangup button on the bottom, a four way rocker for vol +/-, mute, audio switch and a LED for Bluetooth status. There is no display function, everything is via voice control. Also there is no use of the MFSW. Press call/hangup and at the beep speak setup, call, dial etc. The unit speaks three languages and has a 32 entry phonebook separate from the cellphone. This really feels like an aftermarket unit, and is nothing like the module for the BMWs. The FCC web page reports the unit is manufactured by Peiker Acustic, a German company. Here is the link to the filing. The remote is about the size of the one in the picutures but is styled like the one in the user's manual. The first page of the installation guide is labelled: MINI Hands-Free System (w/o HK) Kit - P/N 84 11 0 302 897 and has an underlined section Installation time: 1 hour Note: This MINI Hands-Free Phone System with Bluetooth Wireless Technology installation kit is only for vehicles without Harman Kardon Audio Systems Which means that I'm not putting it in my HK equipped MCS just yet. Finally it requires removal of the inside A-Pillar cover which is a one time use part. You will need a Left A-Pillar Cover (51 43 7 029 459) for the install.
