warnings painted on visor

I've got warnings about putting children in the passenger seat painted on both my sun visors. It's not a sticker, it's not removable, it’s not going away. I try to ignore it but it bugs me more and more. It's pretty annoying driving around with bright yellow warnings posted all over the interior. Do vehicles in the UK have this? Does this bother anyone else?

In the UK, our visors are clear of warnings, but we do have a little airbag warning sticker in the top left hand corner of the windscreen.

some folks have suggested using denatured alcohol to remove these...works on the '02 & '03, but haven't heard anyone confirm it works on the '04's....

In the US we have the visor warrnings. They don't bother me in the least. Our airbag warnning label is on the passanger dash just above the glove box. Most of mine peeled right off w/ no residue. I was able to remove the remaining adhesive by rubbing hard in ONE direction with a soft dry cloth. I did not want to risk stripping the finish off my dash. I did it in cold weather too, this method should work even better in warm.

Cool How to remove sun visor warnings

just removed the visor warnings from my 04 this morning. I used acetone that i got at wal-mart for $4.50. just put a little on a cloth, rub it on the visor, and the sticker will start coming off! Just make sure to do it with the windows down, in a well ventelated area, the fumes can be hazardous. it didn't appear to damage the finish on the visors, but you may want to give it a wash with soap and water or some uhpolstery cleaner afterwards just in case.
hope this helps.

England Zippo lighter fluid

I usually find Zippo lighter fluid to be great at getting rid of glue marks. Might be worth a try.

There is an inexpensive product called Goo-Gone that is sold in hardware stores, drug stores... pretty much anywhere really, it works wonders and it is actually made from citrus, so it smells good, and isn't totally toxic like some other cleaners... If there is any sticky residue or anything, it should take care of it with almost no effort on your part at all

I used both goo gone and acetone.

Acetone worked super fast and left no mess.

Goo gone melted the sticker a bit and I have some residue.

Good thing for me it was on the driver's side where I have my cd holder thingy blocking it!

I suggest going with acetone, otherwise known as nail polish remover.

And if you like, you can take the visor out of the car by popping a cap and undoing two screws I think. Very easily done.

The Japanese Mini has a sticker on the passenger side... Well, I think it's a sticker. It's kinda hard to tell... Think nail polish remover will kill it too?

Antracite

Has anyone removed the sticked from antricite visors? I wonder if the darker color makes any difference.

I recently removed the stickers from the anthracite visors in GBMINI#3; I used denatured alcohol - but that stuff is EVIL. A splash of it took the paint off my factory red dash luckily my local body shop was able to buff it back to nice looking.

Also, don't rush it. The first visor went slow & careful and well - the second was a bit rushed and quite messed up ...

I totally agree... ive experienced it in the UK on a curtesy car and it drove me mental! Yellow just totally sticks out and catches your eye. All I could think was... if this was my car id be taking them off and giving them a good white spirit and or stronger bath!

I hope it is indeed safe to try acetone, as I too REALLY dislike these visor warnings.
As someone else said here, the yellow just really sticks out...esp.
in a black/silver interior like I have. (silver dash & 2-tone space cloth)

Likewise, I'm not liking the bright yellow signal tip on the end of the washer stalk that they just started putting in '05 Mini's...as of January.
Anyone here who has switched this out for a plain tip...a red one, or similar?

Would love ideas. :-)
(or perhaps some 'clever' label?)

I finally got around to doing it this past weekend on my '04, and denatured alcohol worked great. It does take a bit of time for it to soak in and "lift" the warning (it's a vinyl or something). Parts of it just peeled off, other parts just rubbed off. Heed Ian's warnings and be careful not to drip it on other parts.

Personally, I would avoid acetone, that stuff's pretty potent and I'd be concerned about it burning a hole in the vinyl visor. Denatured alcohol is <$3 for a can at your local hardware store...granted you'll have quite a bit left over but you can always buy a fondue pot and use it for strawberries dipped in chocolate....find a kid with a home chemistry set and an alcohol burner...or an adult with a home drug lab

Yes.

I replaced it with the pre-'05 alarm equipped stalk - so I still have a light but it is now red
