Offline | What do folks think of this gadget? I will be on the road for about 5 or 6 months this year just my MINI 'Ghillie' and I; so the attractions of this are obvious. can it be plugged into a wall socket in the motel rooms at night? will it keep ice during the day? though MINI accessories web page says $185 I expect this is the sort of thing it makes sense to get from the Ohio dealer with their 20% discount and no sales tax S BRG/W Randolph 3 PAC NAV Mid Coast Maine, U.S.A. ![]() |

| Damned | Seems a little expensive, you can usually pick up a similar device for around $50. Heres one such Cooler HERE I got a similar one from Woolworths last year & travelled several Hundred miles (On a MINI Run) with it loaded with Ice, Drinks & Chicken Legs & it worked perfectly. They consume around 5amps so its best to unplug it when engine off. Do a search for "mini + fridge" on any search engine to find others I suppose for the extra cash, the one from the dealers comes with a nice Logo`d Bag. ![]() ![]() In da Wud |

Online | I have one the same as Restyle and it works fine comes with dc lead and ac lead for mains electric.Plus it will also heat things up Great for keep the chinese take away hot Also have the MINI cooler it too works fine only comes with DC lead. If you want to run it on mains you have to have a Mains to DC power pack. The quoted performance is that it will cool 20 degrees lower than the outside ambient temp. It does not heat things up like the other one. Dimensions-------> Outside 15" long x 15" high x 9" wide Inside usable space 13" high x 10" long x 6" wide ![]() |

Offline | The MINI Cooler isn't unique to MINI. It's rebranded by several other car manufacturers and you may be able to pick it up cheaper from other outlets, provided you don't mind a Land Rover badge etc. I've got a Halfords cooler and AC transformer. Reason I bought this was that it is a hard plastic body and half the price of the MINI Cooler. Realistically I only use it ocassionally during the summer so didn't think the MINI Cooler was good value. Offline | The MINI Cooler is pretty cool (no pun intended). But you are paying for the MINI badge. You can get something equally as good elsewhere. £100+ is a hefty price for an ellaborate cool bag. Mind you, I got mine thrown in when I bought my Cooper, so I'm not complaining ![]() S ![]() |

Offline | I was told that all of these Peliter based coolers work much better if you start of with putting cold stuff in them so that they just have to keep them cold.... filling them up with 12 warm sodas and expecting them to chill them all to 20c under ambient can take a very long time S BRG/W Randolph 3 PAC NAV Mid Coast Maine, U.S.A. ![]() |

Online | I have found that if you pre-cool the box the night before and put in your coke etc also cold then it will keep it cold. Also you can put frozen stuff like steak, sausages, bacon in and it will keep it frozen for a few days as long as it is kept running. Got to watch your battery though ![]() |
