What's this under the center console ICE stack?

It's circled in orange, it sits on the passenger side, under the little unscrewable flap covering the toggle panel between the two pillars. What is it/ does it connect with?

I can't really see from the pic. but it might be the ECU connector so BMW can mess with your settings etc.

oops, I hadn't realized that the picture came out darker than when I had edited it... I'll try to repost another pic. But the little plug looks to be a radio type cable, simliar to the CDROM's audio cable to your soundcard, it connects to a 4 or 5 prong jack...

It looks an awful lot like the connection for the glovebox light. Assuming that your glovebox light is working, I wonder if it's for one of the illumination lamps in the center stack as I suspect BMW would use a similar connection for what is essentially the same function.

hmm, my glovebox light works... this plug sits very low and far from the glovebox, so I don't think it relates to it...

Are all the backlighted displays in the center stack working?

It might be a connector for an option available in other countries that integrates a cellphone with the HU ...

Any case, it is unconnected on my car too

I read in a MINI service bulletin that this connector is used during transit to activate a battery saver type of device. I don't have the bulletin now, but that's what it said. It also said that after transit, the device was to be unplugged and the wired tucked under the carpet.
