Offline | Normal positioning of the aux audio input is in the glove box. Some have successfully placed the aux input by the driver with a European parcel shelf upgrade. No problem or interference with the aux gauge setup. In fact, I'm having the aux gauges and aux input (glovebox) installed as we speak. I don't understand your second question. You want to have an additional aux input on the aux gauges??? |

Offline | As 2Blue says, the standard dealer installed location for the audio input is in the glovebox, but if you've got a good dealer they can put in it other places if you ask nicely. My dealer uses a different location as their standard - in the right side of the left downtube. This mostly hides it from the driver's view, and is a very convenient place to connect an iPod sitting in the cup holder. Another good option if you've got the aux gauges is to have the audio jack installed in the gauge panel in between gauges. Search for threads about the audio jack here on Mini2 and you'll find some photos of that location. |

Offline | Keith told me that MINI Peabody would not install the AUX on my MINI as I have the Navigation system with HK and he said MINI US did not support it... he mentioned something about a custom ice shop near the Burlington Mall but just how hard is it to do the AUX on a MINI like mine? | Just along for the ride | Keith is wrong... I've got a 2003 with HK and Nav and I have the aux input. Did it myself. As a matter of fact it's easier to put in the aux input with HK and Nav than without the HK. There's actually two connectors on the back of the HK head unit as opposed to one on the non-HK units. One of those connectors will be occupied if you have the Nav and the other will be free, just plug the aux connector into the free connector. Now if you don't have HK and only have the single connector, it's a little more work, it'll take you an extra 5 minutes to put in. |

Offline | I second Bugged, one recommendation on placement. I put it on the bit of plastic trim underneath the toggle switch bank. facing directly downward. Not on the removable section but the trim that stays in place. This keeps it out of sight, however it is now directly above the cigarette lighter which means there is space competition between the power adapter and the mini plug coming from the aux adapter. I went searching to all my local electronic supply stores and could not come up with a right angle mini plug. Went online and ordered some from a website and am awaiting arrival. Smooth roads so it seems my purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others. |

| Car enthusiast | So when I bring my car to the dealer to install the AUX port, I will get a long cable for free? Boston - 03 JCW MCS (S1274) - DS/B, Bonnet Stripes (Sold) HK - 05 MCS - HB/W (It's finally here!) Pix of my car http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/13158/50935.jpg |

| Just along for the ride | No, the cable that goes from the connector that plugs into the headunit, to the actual aux input jack tha you plug your devices into is approximately 6 feet long. Because of that cable, the jack can be placed anywhere in the front of the car |
