| Damned | Rear Cup Holder used as a Camera Mount Just thought I`d show off my new Camera Mount which utilizes the rear Cup Holder as the Post Holder & the Rear Safety Belt Latch as the Lateral Movement Fixing point. As you can see, it uses a standard lengh of 68mm OD Plastic Drainpipe section which is (with a little help from a heatgun), a Perfect fit in the CupHolder. The Camera mount is from a spare standard Camera tripod fixing & is attatched to the Chrome control bar which is used to aim the Camera when a different viewpoint is rqd. The Camera On /OFF/Zoom control will also be placed on the Camera`s remote at the end of the Bar for easy & safe control. Just given it a blast down the road & the results are ...Perfect. Let me know if you can think of any improvements to it, or indeed further uses for the Rear Cup Holder. ![]() ![]() In da Wud Last edited by Restyle : Apr 15th, 2004 at 10:20 PM. |

Offline | thats a great piece of kit. very nice invention. i like the idea of using the seat belt to stabilise. got any video footage from it yet? one question, how much vibration do you get through the cupholder drainpipe? ive had a few spills from the rear cupholder. i tend to use a windscreen suction pro mount. |

| MINI2 Newbie | I miss the point. And why do you want to have a camera mount built into your car? http://www.mini2.com/gallery/persona...oeni/27612.jpg Buzzbomb Buzzbomb Macho-mobile. | Damned | Thanks for your replys Did a Quick blast round the block yesterday evening & the Footage was Brilliant, It was set up to just show the top of the speedo at the bottom of the screen but can be zoomed to just show the forward view. The control arm lets me pan around if anything interesting was happening at the side view. There was No Vibration detected in the Footage although I might try a cobbled street tomorrow to really give it a Real trial There is a tendancy for the camera to tilt back on acceleration but I found that just added to the playback along with the Fantastic Supercharger whine... Gotta have stereo switched off for the full experience Had to take it Off a few weeks ago as It was getting into more scrapes than I had anticipated . Details Here >> http://www.mini2.com/forum/showpost....7&postcount=23 Oh Dear !! What can I say, other than "Sorry to have spoilt your Day" .. Try having a look at this recent In-Car footage taken by Paul Mullett to see if it inspires you in any way >> http://www.mini2.com/forum/photos-photoshops-videos-showcases/54417-went-spin-my-s-videoed.html << ![]() In da Wud |

| Damned | Used it on a MINI-RUN today ..Excellent Footage, but yesterday found that the cable needed to connect my DV Cam to PC is an optional extra .However, I attatched my Digital Stills Cam that also takes Vids at a couple of stages & heres an edit of the Control arm being used to pan the scenery ![]() ![]() In da Wud |

| Grinny's the Mini 4 me! | Sweet! And i suppose at the touch of a button, the car transforms into a submarine! You already have the periscope! That really is brilliant. Does it stow away in the boot when you park up, or do you leave the mount where it is and take the camera with you? Ian M Grinny the mini - Trippin the light fantastic! |

| Damned | Thanks, Yes it stows away easily. Here it is laid out next to an inquisitive cat for Size Comparison Purposes I was invited for a test drive of a JCWorks S at my local dealers on Saturday, & before getting in asked if I could video the Session. He said Yes, (before seeing the Drainpipe ), but I think was impressed when it was quickly fitted in less than a minute. Its funny watching that footage back listening to his selling technique as I`m doing ...Errr.. quite rapid speeds around country lanes Theres a couple of other short vids done with it Here >> http://www.mini2.com/forum/showpost....9&postcount=57 << ![]() In da Wud |

| Wow, neat invention. My invention is a bar that attaches between the two head rests, and a camera mount connected to the bar. I've also experimented with clamping the camera to the rear deck. Found I got some excellent video footage from there. I will post some pics as well later tonight. -R |

Offline | thats cool, im thinkin of somethin similar, but with a tiny cam mounted in/under the front grill, controled (mabe) with a wingmirror control motor, now come on, how cool would that be. (and possible...) |

| Grinny's the Mini 4 me! | Mad! (in a good way!) You'd probably need some clear film in front of the lens that moves across now and again, like on the forumula one in car cams to prevent dirt and water etc messing up the images! Ian M Grinny the mini - Trippin the light fantastic! |
