Offline | The Becker was around £300, had it in my last mini, not seen are a pair of Infinity Kappas installed in the doors which sound excellent. Need to instal an amp and some new 6x 9's next. I bought the car this week, its an ex-demonstrator from a main dealer, they fit the screens and the dvd as an option. As i got an excellent deal on the car, i didnt pay anymore for it, however, they told me they charge upto £1500 for the supply and fit. I'm sure a specialist could do it for less! Having Fun?!! |

Offline | Nav w/ aftermarket? You guys that have Nav and aftermarket Head units...were you able to keep the Navigation audio? How is that interfaced with the aftermarket unit? I am considering an aftermarket head unit in a mini with nav and don't want to lose nav audio. thanks |

Offline | Viewing angle of head units with LCD screens Hi, I'm about to order a new MCS and I'm trying to decide between OEM nav and an aftermarket nav. I'm leaning towards aftermarket after trying them out because I'm not crazy about the OEM Nav's interface and functionality. I've looked so far at both Alpine and Pioneer head units with nav-capable retracting LCD screens. I just have one concern with aftermarket, and that is that it looks from some of the photos of in-dash nav head units like the dash board on the mini sticks out a little bit too far, making it so that the LCD screen on the nav has to be tilted down a little bit when it's deployed. In other words, the angle is better for viewing if your head is down low because the top of the screen can't go far enough back. Not sure if I'm being clear here. In any case, I would love to hear from owners of Pioneer or Alpine head units with LCD screens about whether the viewing angle is okay or not. Thanks in advance, -Ben |

Offline | It depends how far out the screen base comes. On the kenwood 725, 925 it is adjustable & can tilt back no problem p.s. I tried to reply to your mail but it says you have selected in Mini2 not to receive e mails |

Offline | Thanks for the info (and sorry about the email preference, I've fixed that now -- can you tell I'm a newbie here?). ![]() I'll try to check out the Kenwoods, although I don't see the 725 or 925 in the Kenwood USA catalog I found online. Do you (or anyone else) have any experience with either Alpine or Pioneer HUs? I looked at the installation and owners manuals online for the Pioneer AVIC-N2 but couldn't find the measurement for how far out the screen base comes. Alternatively, can you tell me from experience how far out it needs to come for it to work? Worst case I can get my hands on a demo unit at the store and measure to see if it's far enough. In any event, thanks again for the help! With any luck I will be posting some shots from my own system in a few months, and probably hitting you up for a MFSW adapter in the meantime. |

Offline | My new Head Unit. Hi guys, just fitted a Pioneer DEH-P7500MP Head unit to my S, along with Kenwood 6.5" 3 ways in the doors. I can't believe the difference in sound, the stock rear 6x9s sound great! Sorry for the blurred pictures, great camera but crap photographer..! You can even create your own screen images, here's one I made earlier... Another picture, with my bluetooth handsfree running. My Nokia 6230i has an MP3 player built in, and when in the car it plays MP3s through my car speakers! Great! Cheers guys! Al. ![]() |

Offline | Jvc Kd-g612 Hi I don't recall seeing one of these in the gallery. I must confess that I've always been a Sony / Pioneer fan but this JVC stereo has made me think again. It has the usual Radio & CD but also has MP3 / WMA playback, so if you have a PC and can burn discs you don't need a CD changer, although it can also control one. It is also DAB ready with a socket on the back, plus leads to talk to your MFSW and pre-amps for the big set up. Now this is what sold me...it has a 1/4" jack socket on the front so you can plug in your iPod's, Walkman's etc !...Cool or what Cheers David |

Offline | SM69, I have the same headunit, but I swapped the silver bezel trim around the outside for a matt black one from my audio store. Matches the MINI trim perfectly and IMHO, it blends better with the heater controls and the toggle switch panel. Often the dealers have spare ones hanging around. I got mine for free. K. |

| Still kickin' along | Alpine IVA D310 and iPod Adapter Just fitted this recently. It's an Alpine IVA-D310 with the KCA 420i iPod adapter (it's Canadian spec....still havent' worked out how to get it chipped for the DVD player to be region free!) I have HK in my mini, so I used Ian's (GBMini) HK enabler with mode adjust to set it up. I bought that, and the other adapter bits from Mikey...bits included: - fascia adapter - aerial adapter - MFSW adapter - this worked with the US spec Alpine (without the 'R' as per UK models). It runs beautifully, except for the known problem of hissing with the HK enabler - I fixed this by putting the fade 2/3'ds to the rear of the car....(I found the enabler made the amp/speakers too loud, so this suited me perfectly)... Anyway...here's some shots: From behind: The 'brain box' - fitted under the drivers seat Different angle From outside iPod lives under toggle swiches - cable comes out through vents, HK enabler mode-adjust button is also mounted here - no holes drilled.... |

Offline | Hi, i've not yet received the mini but i'm planning to switch the std head unit 4 an ALPINE DVA9965. however, i'm worried the H/K sound processing might not work anymore. Any insight? The Midi-Chlorians are very strong in this boy! |
