TMC and MINI SatNav

Has anybody got any further with this?

It seems to be a mixture of tuner, firmware and map disk. I know that Traffic Information appears greyed out after updating the firnmware to v23 but I (like everyone else) cannot get TMC information. I am not sure if Boost is a dual tuner (and therefore a subsequent tuner is required) but even when I tune to Classic FM I cannot get TMC enabled.

I believe that the disk also needs the TMC information on it, and the current ones do not have it. I have tried the latest DVDs and my original CD in BMWs with TMC enabled. When my disks are inserted, then the TMC is no longer available.

The BMW owner said that he did not have TMC until he got a copy of the map disk (CD) from a different (not BMW/MINI) supplier. Then his TMC works. The BMW does have dual tuner so that it can received TMC/RDS codes while tuned to a different station.

Anybody any ideas?

To have TMC or not does not depent on the disc you have, however you'll need a so called "TMC module" to be able to receive the special messages/signals. The new 2005 Boost will have the ability to play MP3s AND to receive TMC signals.

My hope is then, that a lot of people with the 2005 MINI models, not excited with their boosts, are going to put those on ebay ;-)

If the disk does not matter, then why didn't my disks work in the BMW 3 series but when he put his in it works perfectly?

I agree about Boost, hopefully lots of people will want alternate head units. Hope they just do not buy Wave though...
