United-Kingdom Please Help Me With My New Front Speakers!!!

Hi to you all!
I finally bought a pair of new front speakers and tweeters. (Infinity 5000 cs). Although having no past knowledge of car audio I need a little help! I have managed to take my door panels off fine, removing old speakers etc. The only problem is the new crossovers which came with the speakers which I am a bit confused with. I thought I would try and make some new speaker pods from MDF, but it didn't really work, so i took the easy option and orderd a pair from newministuff.co.uk (thanks!). Hoping they may arrive today. Anyway, here are my questions.....

1. I am using the standard mini boost cd/radio head unit. Is my understanding correct that you just run the old cable to the crossover, then run new cable from the crossover to the speakers? (I don't have an amp)

2. Is red cable positive, brown cable negative?

3. what is the best way to connect the new cable to the new speakers? some kind of mini clap or electrical tape?

I'm sorry if these questions sound a bit basic, but I want to make sure I get everything right. Thanks in advance.
