| MINI2 Regular | JCW Seat Fitting - Air Bag connections ? Picked my seats up from Tony @ CoolNew on Saturday and went to fit them today ... Firstly I need to get the correct tool for the job, while I could get the old seats out of the car no problem, I then found that I need a very short angled key in order to get the old seats of the old runners ... anyway will get one tomorrow and that should all be OK. ... anyway, put the seat back in and the forget the reconnect the airbag sensors at which point I noticed the light on the dash was on ! Ignition off and plugged connections back in. Ignition on ... A/B light stays on. Questions ; Because it picked up a problem with the A/B once will the light stay on until the dealer checks/resets the computer ? (just a thought) Once the JCW seats are in is it a dealer job to disable the sensors so that the airbag light is not one 100% of the time or is there anyway of doing this myself ? Many thanks 2004 Dark Silver MCS JCW 2000 Lotus 340R |

Offline | Ahhhhhhh I understand now, as you put the original seats back in. Any Chance you could let me know what tool is needed for those runners, as me and bengascoyne are fitted ours with each others help. I think the wires have to be plugged with a bridge connector and then re set with the computer, so the car thinks it has airbags or summat. ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | The star driver (probably not the correct term) that is used to unbolt the seat from the car is also required to unbolt the seat from the runners (which are re-used with the JCW seats), however there is very little clearance and my socket start driver would fit due the lack of clearace between the top of the bold head and the bottom of the seat. A normal alum key style one probably would. If I get the tool tomorrow I'll email you a picture 2004 Dark Silver MCS JCW 2000 Lotus 340R |

| MINI2 Regular | OK, we're there ... well nearly ... Firstly I managed to get to correct tool from Halfords this morning, a T40 star drive key, as you will see from the first picture there simply isn't enough space to get a socket drive in. It quiet a fiddly process of fitting the seats, first one took me approx 2 1/2 hours, second one took about an hour, as I had figured out how to get the seat belt wiring out and the recoil assembly disconnected from the standard rails. Unfortuneatly I have received two right hand seat belt attachment brackets, which means until its exchanged I can't take passengers in the front as there is no seat belt. Stephen at Coolnew is onto this one with BMW. As for the airbag light ... well that has to be done by a dealer and re-prog the computer not to look for airbags in the seat. This was confirmed by Stephen at CoolNew today and this is what they had to do. Anyway seats are in OK, as pictures show and feel excellant although I haven't taken the car for a drive yet. Sorry for the poor quality pictures they're mobile ones as the wifes gone out with the digital ![]() 2004 Dark Silver MCS JCW 2000 Lotus 340R |

| MINI2 Regular | First impressions after this morning's drive to work ; Excellant ... buckets (boooo) of lateral support and I found myself chucking the car at corners hard and could feel what was happening beneath me much better. Seats don't touch the head lining as previously posted, there is loads of clearance. They do reduce rear leg room somewhat. On the subject of removal of the old seats ... there really no problem at all and will come out of either door very easily. 2004 Dark Silver MCS JCW 2000 Lotus 340R |

| MINI2 Regular | Yeah really throwing the car hard at corners now. I couldn't really say how high/low they are in comparison to the standards as they feel so totally different. If anything I say the feel higher. Cooper Croydon as scheduled to do the light issue on Monday morning (19th July) will post the costs up then, but its a 'while you wait' job. 1st dealer who supplied the car didn't know what I was talking about so I went elsewhere. Good point, I've just done them the non-scientific way, they were very tight, so I've done them to what I feel is appox the same. If anyone has the correct torque settings for this I'll check mine. 2004 Dark Silver MCS JCW 2000 Lotus 340R |
