Offline | I looks nice, but seems a bit pricey, compared with the cost of TomTom and a Pocket PC. Is is compatible with the GPRS updates that TomTom 3 is? For me that's the reason I upgraded to TomTom 3 - for the live traffic feeds. |

Offline | POI databases will be handy - I've got speed cameras on mine, although to be honest considering the cost (about £8 per year) I hardly expect them to be up to date Anyone know of any good POI databases Only problem with live traffic is the call costs. |

| miniturismo co uk | Yeah the Go box uses tomtom 3 maps i think. The PDA route is interesting, but i wouldn't use it for anything else, so it doesn't really make financial sense to me. I guess if you are going to use the PDA for other things its a better purchase. The million dollar question is "will the tomtom go help me navigate the stelvio route?" |

Offline | it wont help a lot ![]() but it will help with the major roads in europe. if u email me the revised stevlio file, i will see how much of the coverage i can find in the European maps. ive bought mine mainly for the UK navigation side of things. i thought i wouldnt use the IPAQ for other stuff, but ive filled it up with all sorts of stuff. like PDA DOOM for starters. |

Offline | however, you can purchase TOM TOM European maps update for £180 ish which gives much more detailed content for europe. However the bad news for tom tom go units is the 128 SD card wont hold the UK and european major road and the full europe maps, so its gonna require an upgrade of a bigger SD card, probably at least a gb of memory as they come on 8 cds!!!! i dont think i will be upgrading to full european maps just yet? |

| World Traveler | I'm wondering about getting the European TOMTOM maps - but I may also try and borrow an old laptop so I can transfer the maps as we go around europe It should also be usefull for storing the photos from my Digital SLR The other alternitive would be a couple of IBM microdrives - one for the camera, one for the PAD, should be able to hold everything. As for UK camera databases, I'm currently using POIwarner in association with the pocketgpsworld camera database - works fine for me. Mark ![]() ![]() Lifes a reach ... and then you gybe |

Offline | Hi Wigley, I got my Tom Tom Go last weekend from GlobalPositioningSystems at £444 and can't recommend it highly enough. I posted a thread on here earlier in the week. It sits ontop of the dash with a windscreen mount and has great 3D mapping and is spot on when navigating. I don't think you would be dissapointed and compared to others on the market and the MINI sat nav is good value. Bonus is you can take it from car to car which I reckon is better than the built in Nav. |

Offline | Hi Stuart, I will try and take a pic tomorrow for you. It basically sits in top of the dash near the screen. I wanted to place it to the right of the steering column but the curvature of the screen stops the suction mount of the bracket attaching to the screen, I have run the power cable under a dash top mat then behind the dash to the cigarrette lighter. I don't have the heated front screen and I understand that if you do you may need a seperate aerial to overcome this. I think the coating on the screen affects satellite reception. Hope that helps. Cheers, Tim |

Offline | Tomtom Go looks pretty damn cool, it even has changeable covers! ![]() One thing I'm not clear about from reading the reviews: it has a USB cable for updates, but does that mean it can be plugged into a laptop for use as a GPS device? Or is the cable for updates only? I guess as an integral all-in-one you wouldn't expect it to be able to be used as a GPS receiver for Autoroute if you happened to have your laptop in the car. Just wondering ![]() |
