Mini Disc Head Units

Getting my MOC delivered early October and I would like to upgrade the original head unit to a Mini Disc one with an autochanger fitted somewhere in the car!

Has anyone else already had a non standard mini disc head unit fitted and has pics as I would like to see what the few options available (only seem to be able to get mini disc from Sony or Kenwood now) look like.

Thanks

Thanks for pointing me in Damo's direction however I am more interested in having a MINI Disc head unit linked to a CD Autochanger rather than what appears to be the other way round.

One thing I find with my current car is single CD players are dangerous when you are trying to change the CD's - whereas a mini disc player has all the sound quality of a CD with all the robustness of the old cassettes and therefore, in my mind, making them far better to have up front in the car.

If you get the Boost head unit in Europe, you get the ability to play MP3 files on a CD - this ups the capacity to about 7 hours of high quality music on a single CD. Not much disk changing going on there. By the time you pay for a 6 CD changer which will still only hold 6 albums, you could buy a computer to make your own MP3 disks at home. Why not just look for an 8-track head unit - they are pretty "robust."

Hiya, I have a Sony MDX690 (think that's right) in the standard HU location and a cd changer in the boot. I haven't got any pics at the mo but I will post some soon

ma i missin ne thing? what makes a mini disc ne safer than?!?!?!

i got a single cd unit up front, and dont c it as dangerous, and certainly no less dangerous than a mini disc or tape unit.

Cheers for that - looking forward to seeing what a Sony unit looks like. The one I am thinking of is the MDX-M690 so itm ight even be the same unit! So do you reckon it would be worth the £400 I have been quoted for the unti + autochanger?

Yeah i'd say it was worth it, as when I got mine the cheapest I found the HU for was £300...so £100 for the autochanger isn't bad. I'd go for it

Thanks for that Skinnyrunt - any chance of a pic of it installed in yours then so I can see what it looks like in situ??

btw - love those alloys (wanted them for mine but I thought the aero kit would be more dramatic so had to settle for the x-lites which I always thought were cool on the Cooper S and could never understand why people paid extra for those 'standard' 17" ers!)
