Offline | Amplifier and Subwoofer I am planning to install an Infinity 100.3se sub and a MTX 282 amplifier. Will this be relatively easy to install to my stock radio (BOOST)? Do I need any special connectors? I do have a Street Wires 8 guage amplifier installer kit. I am relatively new to this stuff and any help would be appreciated. ![]() |

Offline | I've done the same thing with my Wave radio. I didn't bother buying the £25 adapter. I just worked out the speaker terminal connections and spliced into my rears. Your amp needs High level input capability. And you've got some soldering to do unless you just buy the harness adapter. To do the job properly you have to wire the amp Posative lead directly to the battery with the correct in line fuse as close to the battery as poss. There are FAQ/DIY in this forum for your wiring on a boost, and how to get a power lead through the bulkhead. Also how to remove the stereo if you want to connect up your remote live, and adapter. I chose to wire in my input leads here rather than take the rear panels out as that's a pretty big job involving removing your back seats. I found you can get wires through the door seals and under the back seat without having to remove the panels. It may not be the polished deal that MiketheMini does but you can't see any of my install. I'll be replacing the head unit soon though and have a much more decent and correct RCA low level connection to my sub. This way I can equallise my outputs better. Good luck. I'm breakin' her in officer...........Honest! |

Offline | Amp & Sub Well the problem is that I want to keep the sucker as stock as possible. Can you give me the info on this adapter that I keep hearing about. The main thing that I am worried about is actually attaching the amp to the stock radio. So if that adapter will do the job then that's what i'll do. The amp has hi level inputs w/ smart engage, so i'm not worried about using a remote adapter, becaus the "smart engage" that this amp posseses should do the job nicely. My amp installer kit does have the fuse about 12" away from the battery so I think I'm set there, but any additional answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated. <<<<God of the underworld>>>> |
