switching MFSW controls

my 03 has the 2 spoke multifunction steering wheell and the regular stock cd player. can i somehow switch the wires going from the wheel to the radio so i can have volume controls on the left, and track selection on the right? and is it possible to make the dead (non-functional) button a mute button?

Can't be that hard just find out which ones they are and behind the head unit and swap them. but Mikeythemini (mike) would be able to shed more light on it I'm sure

But why????? Dead button has been discussed in depth do a quick search

cheers

The signals from the MFSW buttons are sent via a bus, not via individual wires.
You would need to rewire the buttons inside the steering wheel!

See this How To from MotoringFile which details installation of the MFSW.
