Offline | Boot changer Need more advice from you knowledgeable people! I've ordered a MCSC and I was persuaded by the salesperson to get a boot changer and also keep the standard radio/cassette (although I did call up today to upgrade it to the Radio Boost radio/cassette). However, I am in two minds over whether a boot changer is really the best option. I guess a tape player would be handy because I could stick my ipod into a cassette adaptor and I wouldn't need to go rumaging around my glove compartment looking for a new CD. Nevertheless, do I really need that much space taken up in my boot? Opinions would be most welcome! ![]() |

Offline | Personal experience ... those same six CDs in the changer get really boring eventually. I know you can change them, but it does not happen very often. The '05 Boost HU can play MP3 encoded CDRs so if you are OK with burning them you can put up to 10 CDs of music on a single CDR and easily change it in the dash. There are a number of better ways to connect your iPod to the Boost HU also - the simple AUX input adaptor from MINI, right up to the not-quite-yet-working Dension ICElink Plus. Even the most expensive option is less expensive than the CD changer. |

Offline | Cool, thanks for that, GBmini! It sounds like I am better off with a single CD player with radio boost, is that right? Can I ask another silly question - where does the AUX input adaptor for the ipod go in the car? Sorry, I am a real techie ignoramus. |

| 2003 PS MCS | The input can go pretty much wherever you want I think but I have to agree with the other post, go for an MP3 capable deck rather than a changer and later on, upgrade yourself to something for an iPod, preferably something that will take advantage of the controls on the steering wheel if you are getting that as the iPod can be a bit fiddly to access while driving I think it's a better idea to have it and any hint of mounting hardware hidden in the glove box to deter theft. Cheers. J\ |

Offline | Thanks for your advice, Jason! I think I am going to change my order to take out the boot changer now! Ummm.....you know the aux input? Err....what is it exactly? Is it a cable that runs under the stereo and plugs into the ipod headphone socket? See see, I told you that I was an ignoramus!! ![]() |

Offline | Just to clarify - the '05 model Boost HU can already play MP3 CDRs. The AUX input officially is installed in the glove box, but can go elsewhere ... a search on MINI2 and NAM will reveal much info, eg: http://www.northamericanmotoring.com...ad.php?t=11518 http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f..._faq_aux_input etc. |

| 2003 PS MCS | My pleasure. I think you'll find that for the most part, having an MP3 capable deck will preclude the need for even an iPod since you can fit so many songs on a CD-R or, even better, a CD-RW though I don't know if the MINI head unit will play CD-RW's not having one myself. I've got a MP3 deck in my truck at the moment and I'll miss it when I've sold it and buy my friend's 2003 MCS but I plan to replace it fairly quickly anyway. The only time I use my iPod currently with it's FM transmitter is on really long trips. Cheers. J\ Last edited by jason2025 : Jan 5th, 2005 at 11:08 PM. |
