| Mini Slobber-Jockey | MP3 discs....really?? Hi All: I just ordered my U.S. Spec '05 MCS in November and can't wait to pick it up in February. I also got the HK system. Is it true that it will play MP3 CD's? I got the aux jack for my Rio MP3 player, but hell if it plays MP3 discs. I may not need it! Can someone clarify this rumor? Also I got the satnav system. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Nav CD is going to be under the passenger seat, allowing me to actually USE the H/U CD player, right? I am just too used to driving a rental Mercedes where you have to take out the NAV CD in order to listen to your own <-------very stupid. Thanks! -JB |

| Mini Madness | Works perfectly - I've only needed one CD in the 2 months I've had my new MCS, with 13 albums on it! The only failing is that you won't get any track titles, only track numbers just the same as you would get if you were using a CD multichanger, with folder numbers instead of CD numbers. ![]() 2007 Clubman Cooper D ~ 2004 Cooper S JCW |

| Mini Slobber-Jockey | Thanks everyone...I couldn't be happier now! One last question. The german dealer that I am getting my MCS from promised that they would hook me up with the CD for the sat nav. I have read a few threads on here discussing that there is a DVD and a CD. Apparently the DVD covers almost all of Europe. I hope they are not trying to screw me with the CD....but if they do, anyone seen prices on the latest Europe DVD's? Thanks again everyone, -JB ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | does anybody have a picture of what the cd player with mp3 looks like? I want to get second hand one for my MINI but would like the the mp3 version and not the old version. When I ask people whether it has mp3 capability they never seem to know. so i was wondering if there was a change in the appearance of the mp3 version compared to non-mp3 version. thanks for any help. Offline | Worst...MP3 implementation (for album listening)...ever. Don't get me wrong: I love that the HK plays MP3s. What I don't love is that the HK doesn't understand MP3 playlists. If you use iTunes to create an MP3 CD or a data CD, you'll end up with all the songs playing (I think) alphabetically, not in any playlist order. And if the songs are in the root directory of a CD (not in folders), they also seem to play alphabetically, without any consideration for artist, album or track number. However, if you put each album you want to listen to in a separate folder, then burn these folders onto your CD, AND if you rip your MP3 file titles with the track number as the first thing in the title, THEN you have a reasonable facsimile of what an MP3 player should do (except, of course, for not knowing which folder is which because the head unit doesn't show any text information). I sure wish I hadn't had to spend $10 in CD-Rs to figure all that out. I wonder whether the HK has an upgradeable operating system... |
