| MINI2 Master | Crutchfield had the mini listed when I visited their site yesterday.... but only the head unit and the 6x9s were listed under custom fit (items they supply adapters for). -- Cheese |

Offline | I also live in the US and want to know the same information. I have contacted Crutchfield and they do not know anything about a BMW adapter for a MFSW. I have contacted several local car stereo stores, and they have basically said they same thing. One implied that it was less than a 10% chance that the MFSW controls will function with a new head unit. I have contacted Sony, since I believe they have a vested interested in making their aftermarket radios fully funcitonal with the Mini Cooper, but they have not yet replied. One car stereo technician implied that cars built for europe will have a slightly different electrical system then the ones delivered in the US. Therefore solutions from Europe will not or may not work in the US. Is this urban legend? The local Mini dealer does not have a clue. So detailed information (websites, ordering information, part numbers, etc..) for US suppliers of these accesories (wiring harness, MFSW adapter, antenna adapter, etc.. ) are needed. In general, the car stereo places said bring the car in and we will see what we can do, but don't expect the MFSW to work the radio controls. A little dissapointed with the replies. Anybody who does get a MFSW to work with an aftermarket head unit in the US, please post to this board what needed to be done, and how the parts were obtained. |
