Well, since my Day 2 Gingerbread Latte Incident, I have been very mindful about treating my lapis-blue leather interior with near-obsessive care. Yesterday, however, I was struck by disaster through no fault of my own.

I drove a co-worker home from his birthday lunch, as he wanted to get a ride in my new MINI. We had a lot of fun, no apparent harm. This morning, however, as I was driving in to work, I noticed a good deal of DISCOLORATION ON MY PASSENGER-SIDE FRONT HEADREST. I was shocked, and immediately knew the cause. Said co-worker uses a good deal of product in his hair to achieve a wet-look, and he made ample use of the headrest yesterday.

Damn. Had I not been driving at around 70mph on the freeway, I would have inspected it more closely, but alas, I couldn't, and of course, I panicked. I nearly cried, I was so distraught. From the side (in sunlight) it looks really, REALLY bad.

Once I arrived at the parking lot at work, I inspected it more closely. It appears as though it didn't ACTUALLY discolor the leather at all, but it has soiled it enough to cause it to reflect light, causing it to look much worse in direct sunlight, from an angle.

Anyways, I'd like to attempt to clean it. I'm going to call my MA later on today to get her opinion on it. If it's a permanent thing, that would be bad. Does anyone know if I can purchase a replacement headrest? Has anyone done so, for any reason?

This was a horrible way to begin a day!
