Question Digital Radio Aeriel fitting

Hi

can anyone help, I am looking to fit a DAB Headunit (probably Blaupunkt Woodstock 54) but need some advice on the aeriel fitting. I dont really want a glass mount one so am thinking of changing the roof mounted one.

Has anyone got a digital headunit and changed their aeriel? How hard is it?

many thanks

Good choice not going for a window aerial - they are pants
I have not found a DAB/FM aerial that will fit the roof as they slope back & hit the tailgate.
All of the DAB installs I have done I have mounted the DAB aerial inside the rear bumper without drilling any holes

DAB adapter for standard aerial

Has anyone tried using a DAB adapter on the standard aerial like the one in this link? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DAB-adapter-for-normal-car-antennas_W0QQitemZ5851986252QQcategoryZ1498QQrdZ1Q QcmdZViewItem
Seems too good to be true but I would be interested in hearing any opinions others may have.

^^^ Wondering the same thing? Or how much does a DAB aerial (behind the bumper) set you back?

I bought the aerial adapter thingy I linked to and guess what?

It works absolutely perfectly. I get excellent reception. The only wee problem I have is occasionally if a taxi is right nect to me in town and is transmitting on the radiomy DAB cuts out for a second but I suspect that would be the same with any aerial. I can't recommend the adapter thingy highly enough. I was very surprised!

Thanks for that.

May be looking at a DAB radio in the not too distant future, so that's really helpful.

I bought a DAB radio for my Mini the other day (See head Unit thread). I have the window mounted thingy, but have not yet put it in. I wasnt too keen on the box on the window thing, so ive left it alone for now.

GAJ, was that adaptor easy enough to fit?

Black Cooper

Couldnt be easier! the coaxial cable which runs from the aerial simply plugs into one end (the top in the picture) and the two leads at the other end push onto the DAB aerial and FM aerial sockets on the back of the headunit. I'm using a Blaupunkt Woodstock DAB 54.

That adapter may make my decision to DAB in the car a little easier. How I love my BBC Five Live in full DAB sound!

Looks like ill have to invest in that ariel then. I have one problem at the moment, which is that I never bought a converter to convert the connection from the BMW Ariel, so that it would work with my Sony headunit. Just wondering, will I still have to buy this alongside the DAB ariel?
