Interior Door handles....

Do any of you find that the paint on the interior door handles get nicked up & scratch too easily?

I had this problem on my first MINI, and in May I am upgrading to a COOPER S.....

But I was wondering if you guys know of any safe way to lacquer the paint without damaging it.... or of anyway to protect those handles?

Thanks.

You could go for chromed steel covers for the surrounds. Would you like me to post a photo of them?

Tigger.

Yes mate please post a photo of these....

P.S: Is this a dealer option? Because I told them about my concern for this issue, and they never mentioned anything about this.

Cheers.

You know what, I shall go and take a photo of it now.

It's not a dealer fit, it's an aftermarket thing. The quality is everybit as good as the door pull itself.

I'll be back!

Tigger.

Picture has just been added to my gallery. Sorry about the reflection; I'm not that short and fat really, it must be the curve of the chrome. Likely story really!

This is chromed steel, so it's very unlikely to wear. If you like it I'll let you know where to get them from.

Tigger

Ah ok Tigger...

I looked at the picture you took! (thanks btw for going thru that effort for me. Much appreciated)

But I'm not concerned with that outer portion that you got covered in the chrome--mind you it DOES look very sharp

My concern, however, was with that OTHER piece... The piece that the Chrome cover thing you have is surrounding!. You know that big silver or dark gray beam (comes in 2 colours) that forks into 2...

I called the dealership today and spoke to the Parts Manager and he has a great idea... There is this clear polyurathane film tape from a company called 3M.... It is designed to protect surfaces and is very strong and durable.... They actually sell kits designed to act as a bra for the Mini. (to ward of stone chips and that on your front end) It's cut to the shape of the car.

Well he said they could try fitting some pieces onto those beams on the interior so I think I am gonna give that a go....

Unhappy them beams, them beams, them scratched beams

Yes, they scratch up very quickly, don't they?
I had the light silver trim on an MCS. I bought the car second hand and wondered whether the previous owner wore lots of rings (or knuckle dusters!). I'm awaiting a new MCS (week 20) and had wondered whether different colours would be tougher. I've looked at lots of used minis with silver trim and seen similar wear

My local dealer quooted £50 per beam to recondition them. I wonder how much they are to replace but haven't asked. I'll see what happens after week 20
Roll on WEEK 20
Cheers
