Offline | Installed amber door handle leds and puddle lights It took me almost 2 days to install the puddle lights and the door handle leds, but I thinks it's well worth the time. Hardest part was to get the wiring through the door gromit, MAJOR fiddling. The puddle lights are exactly the same as the foot lights, and are also connected to the foot lights. I also like the leds. Some comment with the pictures: 1. Powerfull puddle lights, they can only be fitted in one place. 2. The amber led is even visible at daylight 3. At a specific angle the led is visible, I think I will shield it of somehow 4. Dash with the door handle leds on the left and right. |

Offline | Ik could make one if there is interest for it. I hooked up the leds to the lighting of my extra instrument set though, not many people have it I think. But it is also possible to hook the leds up to the cigarette lighter light or radio I believe but the DIY wouldn't be complete because of it. EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified |

| Trained Monkey | I was going to ask where you took the power for the LEDs too. Did you manage to get the wires through the plastic piping in the door OK in the end? http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthrea...ghlight=puddle There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | I got them through with a wire where you pull electric wiring through the plastic pipes in a house (donnow the English word), using only the first 50 cm of the 15 meter .But it would have been nice to know that once you have the 8 mm screw loose of the plastic piping (gromit) you have to slide it towards you first to unhook it from the body because at the other side there is a plastic hook which hooks behind the body. Now I put a screwdriver between the body and gromit because I thought it was clipped, so it broke of. Then I made smal holes in the rubber from the inside to lead the wires through. I'm in the rubber (elastomers) business, in fact there may well be rubber (EPDM) from my employer (DSM) in the Mini. I was impressed by the elasticity and cut resistance of the rubber, but that doesn't say anything about the lifetime of the rubber (resistance to ozone and UV-light which cause the cracks that look like rubber 'dried out'), only time will tell. I used those clips where you put the two electric wires in that you want to connect and it cuts the isolation but not the wire when closed. Worked very well wen connecting to the foot and extra instrument lights. I believe they are for wires from 1,5 to 2,5 mm. But there was another very stupid and costly thing, When everything was finished and I sat down to admire my work I sat down with a screwdriver in my back pocket and punshed a hole in the leather . I can say that it is a very bad experience to feel a screwdriver 'plop' through the leather, man did I do some cussing. Just been to the dealer and will have the seating replaced next week for over 500 euro's !EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified Last edited by Berthil : Apr 7th, 2005 at 12:12 PM. |

Offline | It is only the seat cover, but they quoted 450 euro's ex VAT and fitting time. I guess the rest of money goes to the one who shippes them to the main land .BTW, thanks for the fast en good delivery of the puddle lights and leds, much appreciated .EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified |

| MINI2 Regular | Are those OEM parts retrofitted? The puddlelights look like they are but the door handle LEDs look at bit too bright to be OEM. Maybe im wrong i have only been in a MINI at night once. My car isnt here yet. Mykl Milligan '06 HB/W MCS '05 DS/W MCS Works (Dad's Car) |

Offline | I have retrofitted the puddle lights on my 2003 MCS, the LEDs are indeed not the official LEDs. I don't know how the 2005 model door handle light looks at night or if it can be retrofitted to be honest. I've searched for it here but couldn't find anything. Anyone has pics of the 2005 door handle in the dark? EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified |

Offline | Part # Hello, all. I'm hoping to find Puddle Light MINI Part #. Thank you in advance. Also, anyone added the Illuminated Door Sills? => I'd like to retrofit the Puddles & Sills simultaneously & am wondering if this may simplify wiring needs? Helpful hints greatly appreciated! |

Offline | The puddle lights are the same, they are in fact exactly the same as the OEM footwell lights. Nr 1 and 2 on this picture at realoem.com I have brighter LEDs though (from mickeythemini), I think they look better and I have two more left to place somewhere ![]() EB/W R53 MCS Highly Modified |
