| 05Cooper | Aero Bumper - Black bars without aero grill I put the aero front bumper on my car sometime ago (due to an unintended offroad experience ) and the collision center that put it on never put the aero grill in. So now I'm left with the aero bumper with chrome bars. I figured that sense the bars are plastic I could just remove them, sand off the chrome, and find a paint that matches that of the the black wheel arches. Anybody know where I can find a paint like this? |

Offline | For the same effect (if I understand you correctly) you could purchase a replacement grill for a black MINI, and swap that in for your chrome grill. I'm considering doing the same for my LY soft top, but I want to see how I feel about the yellow bars first. _Dave_ |

| 05Cooper | I've seen the replacement aero grill, and, don't get me wrong, its nice, but its not what I would like to see on my car. The bars on the aero bumper would look great if I could just find some sort of flat black paint to match the rest of the bumper. Is there anyone who has painted the stock grill black? |

Offline | It seems like we've got crossed wires here... Just in case: I'm not suggesting you get the honeycomb grill that is part of the aero kit. Instead, I'm suggesting you get the standard (upper) grill, but one that is made for a black MINI. This will have black bars and a chrome surround, which is what you would get by painting the bars on your current (chrome) grill black, but without worries about sanding, masking, and painting - only to find chips in the paint a few weeks later... I only suggested it because it's what I'm thinking of doing for my own MINI. Anyway, if there was no misunderstanding, please excuse the follow-up. _Dave_ Last edited by am0eba : Apr 15th, 2005 at 09:43 PM. Reason: spelling - drat! |

| 05Cooper | Sounds like a plan, but there is a slight problem here. The MCS and the MC's dimensions differ, including the bonnet. So, are the grills measurements slightly different? If so, the idea will not work, at least without becoming overly complicated . Anyone have any insight on this? |

Offline | The grills are interchangeable. I picked up a Pure Silver grill from an S to replace my chrome grill on my 05 MCC. The painted grill came from an 04 S model. |
