Here is the email that I received from my MA regarding adding a Aux port to my MCS so I can interchange both an IPOD as well as a Satellite radio.

"On the I-Pod adaptor question you can run a satellite radio and have something (MP-3 player, CD player, etc., ) hooked up to the auxiliary input but not an I-Pod. Apparently it has something to do with the type of switching required between the head unit and the I-Pod . So it’s either just an I-Pod hooked up to the factory radio or you can have anything else hooked up to the aux input and a satellite radio as well."

I have heard from many of you that have connected their IPOD to the Aux Input in the glovebox. Has anyone connected both the "factory" satellite radio and an aux input? Is this gentleman incorrect on the ability to not connect an IPOD to the AUX Input? Thanks for your assistance in allowing me to jointly use a satellite radio (external), as well as, an IPOD.

I don't know anything about the satelite radio but when it comes to the aux I don't think he knows what he is talking about. I don't have an aux, I have an ipod adapter, but if the aux will take an MP3 it will take an ipod. In fact it will take anything that has the right cord to plug it in. I have an aux in another car of mine (although that car is not a MINI or a BMW) and it runs the ipod just fine and in fact its better than the ipod adpater in my MINI.

In my opinion since it is questionable about what your MA says about the aux, I wouldn't trust anything said about the satelite radio either.
