Getting AUX input working

Hi all,

I have searched and searched these forums but cant seam to find what i am looking for. I am trying to put the aux input into my boost headunit. The problem is when i plug it in and turn on my player it does not come up with the AUX option on the headunit. Is it possible mine is not compatible or have I done something wrong. I have a July 2002 Mini.

Thanks for your help.

Matt

Matt,

I've read a fair bit on this subject and actually bought an aux cable for my 05 MCS from another lister who had an earlier model. He told me it wasn't compatible so I think you've answered your own question..

Thanks for that Mick,

It looks to me as if it doesnt. Funny though becasue the stereo has the right inputs and makes me wonder how they can make the sat nav work without the support of an aux input.

I am not really happy with the sound of the FM tuner option either. Back to the drawing board I guess !

I know what you mean re the tuner. I've got a belkin and it's only just okay really.

Did you have to take the head unit out to plug the cable in or could you just reach behind. As I mentioned, I have the cable and am picking up my car on wednesday..

Not sure of the name of the device, but I believe that there is a unit the uses the CD Stacker input to allow an iPod connection. I think icelink ???

Other option is the unit Baker has installed - I am sure that works on earlier headunits.

Cheers

Same here, I have it too and not only is the quality average but i get radio interference when driving though Melbourne. It is fairly annoying. I took the head unit out as mentioned in THIS website but to no avail. The ICELINK XMINIX mentioned may be an option, I guess I just want to make sure it is not possible before I put my car back together !

Hey Matt

There is a thread somewhere which talks about some key sequence for the head unit and it displaying some number, the xx50xxxxx?, comes to mind. If the sequence is as shown then the cable is okay otherwise no go.

/off to find link
