Offline | Alloy patina.. can I order the parts and fit it myself? Hi all. Does anyone know if I can order the alloy patina parts (dash, downtubes, door parts) and fit them myself? How easy is it to remove the dash and is there a danger of setting the airbags off? Also do I need to have a MCS to be able to order these items? Any help appreciated... Jonathan |

Offline | I cant answer your question about whether it'd fit a non-MCS, but the dash alloy patina bits are dead easy to take off and replace, they basically just clip into place. And the downtubes aren't hard either. Can't remark on the door bits, but I suspect they're not that hard either... Don't know if that helps you? There's a how-to around here somewhere. |

Offline | In the US the appropriate bits for an '04 are ~$330 for the dash, and ~$750 for the door cards. Prices may or may not be similar on your side of the pond. '04 IB/W #1,#2,#3, Nav w/Brit voice, HK, lapis leather, aux gauges, bonnet stripes, Ian's auto-up/GDO, full toggle rack I've motored cross-country, have you? |

Offline | Could someone tell me if there would be a problem fitting what I assume is the new design dash to an older car. Take a look at the two pics... The new design seems to only have 3 sections as opposed to the old 5. Would this affect airbag deployment if I fitted the new version to my car?? |

| MINI2 Master | A definite no-no. The airbag on the passengers side comes out from behind the dash on pre facelift cars. The dash panel in front of it is designed to give way to the airbag. Facelift on cars have the airbag coming out of the top of the dash and the dash panel is therefore not required to give way to the airbag, hence will be fixed firmly in place and would stop an airbag from being deployed successfully if fitted to a pre facelift car. |
