Offline | Seat airbag resistor value Many moons ago, people were asking what the airbag resistor value was. The reason being that if you wanted to change out the seats, you could replace the seat airbag sensor and seat pre-tensioner airbag sensor with fixed value resistors, thereby saving the need to go to the dealer and as such saving more than a couple of pennies. The measured resistance is..... or was.... 2.2 Ohms for both the pretensioner and the seat airbag. A BIG WORD OF CAUTION. I used a pretty good meter to check this value. A poor meter is likely to set off the circuit and explode the airbag so do not do it. That was the value I measured, it may not be the same for each car. That was the serious side, now the childish side... An exploded airbag will wreck the seat, is very loud and, when the seat is laid on its side with the airbag down, will raise the seat off the floor a couple of feet. The pretensioner makes a sound like a loud hand clap, the seat airbag makes a noise like someone hitting an empty steel lorry container as hard as they can with a sledge hammer. Its very loud. In the immortal words of Brainiac TV, we do these things so that you don't have to ![]() Was a 1, now 1 of 150 in a 40 |
