cd/radio boost.

Hi,
Just bought a used mini cooper with single slot cd/radio boost.Whilst driving it home noticed that the radio reception intermittently cut out and returned after a second approx. This happended on all stations.Leaving a cd in slot rectified the situation. Is this normal? Also there is no cd changer prep.Does anyone have an idea what it would cost to get a cd changer fitted and would it have to be done by mini dealer.
thanks michael

hi, welcome to MINI2.

sounds like it may be a faulty unit, pop in to your dealer and ask them the to look at it.

not sure where in the world you are situated, but i think retro fit CD changer without CD prep is approx £360. it can be fitted yourself, all the parts are available from your dealer, including the wiring kit.

regards
stephen

welcome to MINI2

If your car has CD prep the cable will be found in the boot of the MINI, if not then IMO its not worth the cost to have it done, it would be just as cheap to buy an Ice Link from www.newministuff.com and an Ipod then you can have all your music hard wired into your MINI

The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive?
