Offline | Boost reception bad after car kit install Hi. Had a Nokia car kit installed recently, and all didn't go well. Install carried out by well known professionals..... the car kit works fine but my mini doesn't seem too impressed. After initial install on very sunny day I noticed that the dashboard instrument lights remained on whilst the ignition was on. They no longer dimmed, problem was this was only spotted after the installation guy had gone. So he came back, and it seems the wiring kit he used may have been for the 04 minis. mine is 05. The fix, after a bit of investigation was to cut one of the wires. Then I noticed that the radio reception was worse. FM was ok where he did the install, but on a journey it fades in and out. AM has completely gone. So my question is, is this just a case of forgetting to plug in an antenna lead? He is coming back in a couple of weeks to sort it.... could it be more sinister.... I don't know what the back of the boost radio looks like and whether the antenna is part of a connector block - hence impossible to get wrong. Advice appreciated. |

Offline | dashlights - There is no difference between 04 & 05 radio wiring radio bad - Sounds like he hs pulled out a pin or used the wrong interface. The aerial has an amplifier built in, it needs a live switched by the radio - if this isn't present you will get week FM & no AM, sounds like its no longer connected |

Offline | Sounds like he cut a wire to stop the lights. I agree with Mike with the cables being the same. I fitted a Nokia car kit into my 02 - Cooper than transfered the cable direcly into the 05 cooper S but I am a bit worried about him cutting the cable ![]() 1968 Mk1 Morris Cooper S 1310cc Downton Lake Green - White 1974 Leyland Mini 1098c Country Cream 2008 MINI Cooper S Chilli Pepper White - Black Roof |
