| MINI2 Newbie | I have the plain vanilla TomTom Go and it rocks. I have also bought a larger memory card and uploaded maps of France, Germany, Poland and the USA as I frequently travel to these locations. It works like a charm. You will have to get a larger memory card but that's the only added expense. Also PM me for a link to upload the GATSO camera warnings for the UK. Kesh |

| cook pass babtridge | the only significant difference between the 500 & 700 is that the 700 comes pre-loaded with detailed roads maps for the whole of western europe (the 500 only has major roads for europe outside the uk). you can upload maps for the US as long as you have disk space. the 500 runs on a memory stick & the 700 has an internal drive www.mytomtomgo.com has some good info & comparisons |

Offline | I do have the TomTom 700 - not really used it much OK at all as I have it for use in our 3rd car ![]() The extras over a 500 are the maps are stored on a hard disc and it comes with a remote control. The 500 and 700 also have bluetooth integrastion wit mobile phones, so you can get int the car with your mobile phone on and it will link to the TomTom (when it's on) and if you get any calls you can answer (or dial out) using the Tomtom touchscreen / speaker. Again I've not used it so I don't know how well it works I have uploaded the speedcamera info, but I also have Road Angel 2 hardwired into the car I use the Tomtom in so it's not a feature I plan to use much. All in all not much help - sorry ![]() ![]() |

| MINI2 Newbie | Thanks all, much appreciated. Checking out the Gotomtom site now. Looks like I'll go 700 route, so long as it has the room to hold the USA and Europe maps at the same time. Cheers again, Sean http://www.bunkychollox.com |

Offline | It has an internal battery - so for trips of 2-2.5 hours (or ones where you need to help at a specific point) you don't need to use the plug in cable. Haven't used the mount yet but there are a lot of past threads on the subject - it would be worth doing a search ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Here is a site that reviews items like the tomtom. It also has the POI's for the speed cameras, which I use on my Ipaq and tomtom. Saved my licence a few times LOL http://www.pocketgps.co.uk/ Very useful |
