Removal of head unit

Newbie here...

Simple question: How do I remove the radio (standard Wave unit)? Realised I need to remove the pillars either side of the centre console, but don't want to break them.

I want to fit an AUX connection and am not going to pay $tealer prices for what I can do myself in minutes!

Cheers,

James

You've probably found it by now, but if not, go to "Technical > DIY Advice" on the main menu bar of Mini2.

Presume you've got all the stuff you need but if not have a look at newministuff dot com.

good luck!

its relatively simple. the only "special" equipment is a t45 wrench bit. other than that, basically unscrew anything and everything that is connected to the gearstick surround, inc. cup holders and screws beneath mirror adjustment. then open glove box and undo the torx screws on the pillars on that side. then pull the knee bolster down on the drivers side..it does need a bit of encouragement but do be careful not to snap it or scrape the pillars. then undo the drivers side pillar and its straightforward from there.
