Yep, GP0001 is a press car, which will go to BMW's museum when they finish showing it, GP0002 is a customer car, officially the first customer to get his GP.

You know how he got it so early? Ordered WAY back in January 2005 when we first started rumours of a special edition.

I only got my order at Classic on Aug 26, 2005 ! Was the owner of GP0002 ahead of the curve or what!

I put my name down for one in May 05 but they weren't taking deposits then so I don't see how that got him ahead of the queue?

Granted I have cancelled my order twice...

He said they took his details and deposit then, and got the order in ASAP. We're going off topic though for this roof number thread.

We should take it to the main GP thread from now on I think.

OK actually we have problem here. After carefully reviewing my paperwork - from MINI USA - I noticed that my roof number (confirmed w/ the dealership) is 142 no 143. However, I noticed that some else in this list has 142

? ??????

Yes, I see Chrisandjax has 0142.

Fuzzy had speculated about some numbers being duplicated, to avoid using other undesireable numbers.

Don't worry I have contacted my dealer to try and sort this out at my end.

I have spoken to my dealer a couple of times recently and both times they have confirmed that I will be getting 0142.

I called them again today to make sure that there hasn't been any confussion.

They have admitted that there was an initial mix up with my allocation. I had been allocated their dealer demo car (0400) which was due to be delivered later than my order but this was sorted out with Mini HQ a while ago.

They are still saying that I will be getting 0142 in the first week of August. I have asked that they check again and confirm by E mail my allocation number.

I will let you know once I hear from them.

I too will be very annoyed if 0142 it is not a unique number.

i'm in Glasnevin, buying from Joe Duffys, there are getting 3. There'l be 7 here in total, incl the Demo GP. My dealer told me they were thinkin of some sort of launch though not sure yet.
