Gp Rear Spoiler

Does anyone know roughly how long it would take to FIT a new rear spoiler to a GP in labour time?

I guess it would depend if you were fitting it to a GP, or to some other MINI that doesn't have the mounting holes and doesn't have the correctly shaped rear glass!

my GP Spolier had been severely cracked on delivery to the dealers apparantly!
But this happened yesterday and they have told me its a big job to change it to a new 1 they are taking off there demo car.

I somehow think it doesn't take 2 days to replace a spoiler!!!!!

So I need to know if they are telling porkys.

2 Days!!!!!!!!!!! They are taking the Mickey.

And how on earth did they crack the spoiler? (Was it the plastic or Carbon fibre parts?)

Without actually doing it, I'd think it's only a matter of undoing a couple of bolts to remove, and replacing those bolts to fit the new part.
Not sure what would cause massive work - unless there's some sort of permanent glue between the spoiler supports and the glass?

Yeah perhaps its the glue or something. But I agree it shouldn't take this long, I am still waiting for the car i was promised last Friday!

Also, what could have cracked the spoiler and nothing else on the car? I would think the car is reversed off the transporter?

any clues anyone?

Have you seen the damage? whats broken? the only thing I could think of is possibly someone reversing it into something. (It does stick out further than the bumper.....)

Then again I would have thought the plastic parts would have gone first.......

haven't seen the damage done, just been told its very badly cracked and a big job as the spoiler is so big, WTF?

To add to this, they still don't know if the car will be ready for tomorrow, making it 3 days

I would suggest you go and view the damage, something does not sound right Im affraid. Also get them to show you the exploded view of the spoiler on the parts system, that should give you an idea of whats involved in swapping it over. (And I would be surprised if they are taking the one off the demo car as most parts can be delivered in 24hrs and MINI UK should already have a spares stock of GP parts..........)

My colleague & I just went out and looked at GPMINI.
There's no glue between spoiler & glass, only rubber gaskets.
There's two Torx bolts to undo each end of the mounting bracket, and two more at each end to free the spoiler from the brackets.
End of story.

Maybe they don't own the right size Torx drivers?

I think joogle is right. Something is wrong as I remember now my sales women said they had to take the glue off.

To be honest I can't see it being that big a job. There's a couple of bolts either side, then I think some glue holding the CF blade in position.

Personally I expect the main delay is they simply cant get one and are buying time by saying they are taking it off the demo? If I was a dealer that would be one of the last options.
