I'm finding the GP.......

SLOW

Was Behind a GTi (200bhp) tonight and tbh i expected the GP to be alot quicker than it was, i could have over taken him if i really wanted to but i'd have to live on 7000rpm's. Its not the first time either, tbh since the first day i got it i didnt think it was much quicker than my last MCS.

I know the MINI's arent about speed but handling and character, but i expected abit more from the GP. I love everything else about it from the styling to the noise to the exclusivness. I dont drive too fast mainly because of safety and mobile speed cameras but i enjoy the odd blast.

I'm just wondering if anybody else feels like this or i'm just going through a "I want a Porsche GT3RS moment"

I never thought i 'd say this but i'm wishing JCG would manufacturer some sort of BHP improvement for the GP.

Can't say I've found it to be slow.

hey Fabio
hmm so far I cant say this has happened to me, and I have had some good runs with it., though never to the limit so cant say for sure. Though at times I wonder if its even possible to hit 250 km/h with this car. i might actualy push to see that happen this week on the way up north.. then ill feel better. high revs dont trouble me. i use 98 ron and above only. i dropped the nasty runflats as well to higher grade tires.

All this was on a public road of course. I find where the car is really quick is in the 50 - 70 bracket, loads of power.

I'm scared

I sat behind Fabio in his stock MCS during the 2005 M2M run. He didn't hang around that day and tbh I found I had to work very hard to stay in touch with him.

Now that Fangio is piloting a GP I'd love to redo the run and see how much quicker it is (all within the limits of the public highway bylaws and regulations of course).

Basically Fab, be the first to mod it, smaller pulley, proper size IC and better plugs should see you in the 230s and some serious smiles

Who knows, you may even be able to keep up with the Superbee

lol ...i've been thinking about the smaller pulley, IC etc but i'm not too sure. I dont really want to mess arond with a brand new car. I want to keep the warranty intact, my dealers wouldnt be too happy with me playing around with it.

i had a bit of a run in with a GTI giving it large, he sat on my **** until traffic moved out the way and i pulled away from him with ease, he tried again when the traffic slowed me and exactly the same thing happend, so i then let him past to see what would happen, i sat on his **** until the traffic cleared and he had to pull over to let me past, i was very happy with the result, maybe lorien you need it run in a little more???????

I found a massive step in straight line performance between my S and the GP. So I don't know what your doing wrong fabio. JCG do 225bhp upgrade.

i dont think its a massive step, the noise makes is feel faster also. Maybe my old 's' came out of the factory with more than 163bhp and then with the airbox and exhaust it got a few more bhp
