Offline | Sold my MCS Works in August after nearly three years and finally took delivery of Focus ST2 a couple of days ago. Absolutely no regrets, after having had steering column replaced twice due to looseness and knocking, MCS complete exhaust replaced due to poor fitting of original (by Mike Cooper Garage), clutch replaced due to noise, one wheel replaced due to poor fit to tyre, entire dashboard replaced due to underpanel welding coming apart, countless rattles and many more problems. It was great fun (when not in the garage for repairs) but dreadful build quality for what amounts to a very expensive small car, and thought of £700 a year extended warranty plus £100 per visit was the final straw. ST2 so far a huge improvement in ride quality - I never got around to replacing the mini's runflats but think that would have been a major improvement after having read several threads on the subject. ![]() Extra 3 Inches | Likewise, I hope you enjoy the ST. I left Ford early this year just as the first ones were being delivered, so didn't get a chance to experience it first hand. A few friends that have driven them all rave about how good they really are though (never really doubted, as the Focus is generally a great car!) Hopefully, this one will be more reliable than your MINI, although it will certainly cost you as much, if not more, to run and definitely more to maintain. But hey, all the negatives pale into insignificance when you are piloting the cheapest 150mph car available! (It is a little-known fact that Ford had to make the car capable of 150mph, as this was the only way they could guarantee it would keep up with the depreciation! ) |

Offline | I was always a Ford man myself until the MINI. I also looked at the ST but it just looked like "another Ford" to me and not special enough. I followed one home last night and in town it was the MINI that got the looks. Must admit you do have to put up with too many "things" owning a MINI but at the moment I still like them above other cars. Also the depreciation is another worry over time with a Ford. I had a Mondeo ST24 and it was a great car but the price I was offered after 3 years was ![]() Look at Graham Goode Racing. They do a 300 BHP upgrade for the Focus ST!! I followed what I think was their demo car a few weeks ago. Man that thing was quick!! ![]() http://www.grahamgoode.com/website/index.php?website=9 |

Offline | Enjoy your ST, they are certainly fast! I think there will be something else from the MCS you may miss though. This may not be evident for a few weeks ........! GP 0904 |

Not that keen on the looks; no doubt they go like stink though............ GPower.......pop..pop..pop |
