Offline | Help required for new owner Hi guys, I will be picking up my new GP 1341 this Saturday (can't wait). The car has only got 57 miles on the clock and I was wondering what the correct running in proceedure is. Also I live in the Wakefield area and we are bombarded with sleeping policeman, does the GP clear these if I go over then with the wheels either side. Had a lowered TT once and had to put the wheel on the hump as it would not clear underneath and it was a real pain. Many Thanks Dave. |

Offline | Running in - stay under 4,500 revs/90mph for the first 1250 miles...then gradually increase the revs from there. A few short bursts a bit over that won't hurt, just don't redline. And drive at a variety of speeds and revs. It'll clear fine, it's not that low ![]() ![]() |

![]() Run out of ideas... | Another recommendation, that MINI don't believe is needed (but most disagree) is to do an oil change after the run-in period. You'll have to pay for this yourself, as it won't be covered by TLC, but I'd much rather do that than have little bits of loose metal floating round my engine for anything up to two years! Enjoy the GP Dave, it'll be WAY more enjoyable than your TT! ![]() |

Offline | Thanks guys appreciate your replies. Really looking forward to the car and I've not even heard it start up yet never mind had a test drive!! Drove a JCW a while ago and thought it sounded good, does the GP sound as good?? I PX a BMW X3 for it as I wanted to get back to having a bit of fun (The X3 was also losing a shed load of money too!), was looking at a Cooper S & the new Clio 197 both good cars but I couldn't believe my luck when I chanced across the GP. I just fell in love with it, even the wife was bowled over and she drives an SLK. Any of you had problems with speed humps or sleeping policeman with the lowered suspension?? Thanks again dave. |

Offline | Our posts crossed there (see below) re road humps, you do have to be a little carefull! I ran mine in at 4,000 rpms to 1,250 miles, 4,500 rpms to 2,000 miles then gently eased it upwards and onwards reaching max revs at around 2,500 miles .... hey but all here will say that I was being an old woman!!!!!! The oil change is a good idea but have to admit I was too lazy to bother! As you run it in you will realise just how much more fun it is to drive than an SLK!!! I've passed the 3,000 mile mark and it loosening all the time, it's brilliant! Have fun!! ![]() GP 0904 |
