Offline | GP or MCS? I went into my local garage to test drive the new MCS, and they had a second hand GP for sale. I now have a dilema Should I go for the GP or spec up a new MCS? What are the thoughts? |

Offline | If you have to ask the question, i would suggest the GP just isn't for you. It is a car with a few compromises, and love it or hate it looks.... As its based on a now defunct model, why not take the sensible route with a turbo MCS. If the tales of its power delivery are true, its just about as quick as a JCW anyway. |

| November build Diesel MCS | You said you test drove the new MCS, why not take the GP for a test drive and then decide. The GP is a future classic, the last of the supercharged brigade so to speak, the ultimate mini for many mini enthusiast, but with compromises Weigh up the pro's and con's of both cars. |

Offline | When I first saw the title of this thread I thought 'Great!, here we go again; ; another one one of those, "mines better than yours!" type deabate/slagging match' but after deciding to make the click and read on, I was pleasantly suprised.I won't tell you which one I think you should go for- as my user name may suggest that i'm a little biased! However, I will say that if you want a MINI for pure enjoyment/driving experience; than the GP is the car you should go for; If you want comfort, " optional extras" and refinement (not that the GP is let down In any of those areas as much as people like to make out), get the R56. IMO both these car's will hold their value well, but in the long-term and perhaps even a year from now, the GP will be the one that you will loose less money on. (wether anybody else will admit it is another matter) The now 'old' MINI was an instant hit from day one, and I don't think 'having an old model' bothers that many people TBH, (unless that person is someone that has to have 'the latest and greatest' ), loads of people have already said that the 'average joe' (non MINI2 member ) is not going to notice any major differences between the two cars.As always; at the end of the day it's down to personal prefferences/opinion....the choice is your's, either way you will be getting a quality car. (Miniman23, you have an R56 MCS on order, don't you? )Sorry for the Essay, but this is one of the few thing's with regard's to my car, I feel very strongly about. mGP. GPower.......pop..pop..pop |

Offline | If it were me I'd go for the GP. The R56 will be around for years to come now, and I (from personall experience) wouldn't buy anything in it's first year of production again!! Been caught out with the MINI and some motorbikes! Depends if you want to live with the compromises though! ![]() |

Offline | Defunt model? The fact that it lapped Nürburgring in the same time as an Exige says there's nothing defunt about it. I owned a JCW and the GP is a totally different beast.![]() Global Moderator ![]() |
