Question GP Wheels - what product do you use to clean them?

On my last Mini I used meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner

It's great stuff, not as harsh as other cleaners but the finish on the GP wheels is different to anything I've come across. I think it'll be ok, but am interested to know what others use.

Cheers

Meguiers Gold Class shampoo does the job with a nice soft brush in the crevices Mo.
Regular cleaning pays

I also use Meguiers Gold Class shampoo but I use an old wash mitt not a brush.

Weekly / bi-weekly clean and after 6000 miles they are still very easy to clean

I've not used a brush on them, I tend to use an old rag. I'll get myself a soft brush and give it a try. Hot Rims used to get them gleeming.

All these aftermarket wheel cleaners are rubbish, sure they may remove the dirt easily, but they generally contain acid r similar, and regular use will ruin all but the very very best alloy wheels.

I generally wash my rims with a sponge and car shampoo. And when i change them I used a clay bar to remove tar and brake dust gently, then use sealant or wax.

However,

The teflon type finish of the GP rims isnt a common finish. Its like a dry unsmooth finish, that I think the clay bar wouldnt work on, and wax wouldnt take to.

Is it teflon? Anyone with some contacts find out? I must ask my dealer to find out.

If this spare rim of mine doesnt sell, I might try a few things on it.

I had the wheels off the car yesterday for a good clean. I washed the wheels first first then used a clay bar to remove some staining on the metal edges (as said above is a bit pointless using on the black parts) and finally polished the whole wheel with Meguiars NXT wax.

They came up ok but as they're not a shiny finish I think they're not worth spending a lifetime on as they will only get to a certain level.Saying that I'm taking them off again soon to put on a longer lasting wax. It also means you can get to your calipers to get them nice andy shiny!!

I've also used MINI and BMW gel which seem ok. Be careful not to use stuff like hot wheels and wonder wheels diluting them with water as they are pretty harsh and could damage your wheels over continued periods.

I washed mine today and like you they came up ok. I like my wheels to sparkle but as you say they're not a shiny finish.

I have used AutoGlym alloy wheel cleaner... its acidic but I deliute it.

Usually I just clean the wheels regularly and then wax them
