| F43i0 | finally got my GP back today with new exhaust fitted, the original GP exhaust was 1 piece & it seems now that it was cut at some point and the new exhaust (rear silencer) was welded back on. I though they should replace it with an orginal GP JCW exhaust ![]() |

Offline | OMG... I was driving home last night, & driving quite 'hard' I suppose, then when slowing down through some coutry lanes noticed the exhaust sounded louder; turned down the tunes and low and behold it really did sound different. I pulled into a layby, opened the driver's door and listened... it now sounds like there is a hole in the exhaust in the middle section, right below the driver & passenger seats... I got out the car and walked round it, the burbling sound is definitely noticeable and somewhat worrying - is this the same problem people have talked about on this thread?! Better ring the dealer (oh & while I'm on the phone, better mentioned the 'flaking paint' on the front bumper that I started another MINI2 thread about)! Still love my GP despite these concerns - wouldn't trade it in (until the next GP in c.2012 that is) ! |

Offline | Quick update Right, took 1503 into my local dealer today & just as I thought, needs a new part - apparently they've ordered a new "box" (?) and I'm getting it done, under warranty, on Friday - hurray! Pleased with the prompt service, as thought they might have to specially order the part in. The louder sound is OK, I mean I can live with it, BUT I'm really looking forward to the proper GP tone. 48 hours to go. Now, to the flaking paint issue on the front bumper (!) ... |

Offline | you guys aren't the only ones! my GP, 1719, had the exact same problem but started when i went on long weekend to a game farm here in south africa. man! i got some really dirty looks from people who had gone there to enjoy the peace and quiet! apparently, the guys at mini told me that the stresses the jcw/gp places on the welds are what cause the problem. you would think that after 3 years of the jcw kit being available they would have beefed up the exhaust sytem, yes? |

Offline | Hey guys, what was your odometer reading on your GP's when you started hearing the exhaust change? I'm almost to 10k miles and my first scheduled visit to the dealership. Just getting myself ready! |

Offline | GP Thunder - Hi Mine has just developed this problem in the last week - having it fixed tomorrow - have got approx 8,500 miles on the clock... I have driven it hard, but wasn't it designed to be driven that way?! Fingers crossed yours is OK. Keep us updated! |

Offline | Would you believe it? My dealer was due to fix my GP today BUT someone had apparently ordered the wrong exhaust silencer/muffler part - for a standard MINI Cooper S rather than for a JCW or GP - D'oh! How annoyed was I?! |

![]() Oh good grief! | Whilst in the Italian Dolomites I was getting a knocking sound whilst pulling away, But I suspect it was due to an extremly hot exhaust from climing up the moutain passes! Anyway had mine checked over by the dealership in late June to be on the safe side after reading this thread, and they reported it to be fine. ![]() |
