Biggest problems you will find with a Cooper S Works :

1) Developing a lead right foot and addiction to supercharger noise.
2) Thinking up excuses to give to your wife/partner for 'going out for a drive' at 9pm - do you really need milk for the morning ?
3) Obsessive compulsive washing of the car and parking well away from others in car parks
4) Wondering why such a small car is only getting 24 miles to the gallon (imperial)
5) Becoming a MINI geek and attending MINI2.COM more than once per day

Otherwise, just watch out for the normal squeeks/rattles like any other MINI.

Dont think there are really any major issues mate, the car was pretty well sorted by then (facelift) otherwise as wiggis says...usual squeeks n rattles

Had my 05 Cooper S Works for a month now. Two issues so far:

1) Broken engine mounts (Get knocking when pulling off/stopping)
2) JCW Exhaust centre box needed replacing. (Rattle from under car)

Think more people have had problems with the engine mounts than the exhaust. Other than that seems pretty sorted, no recalls affecting them that I know of. Maybe worth getting engine mounts checked at next service though, as my dealer says they have done a few of them.

Engine mounts are not a major issue but equally as much they on the standard S.

Done 13,000 in my 2006 S works and am still thrilled to bits with it! I had the new flywheeel and clutch fitted around 2,000 miles ago (to solve the S tickover rattle in neutral. See faults and fixes), but thats it! No rattles and it goes like stink!

My only regret is that they don't make them anymore!
What the hell am I going to buy when it's time for a change?!

I still don't like the look of the new S and it has no supercharger!

Some of the JCW upgrades at least in Germany and Poland got the wrong ECU map. Don't know about UK.

Mine was one of them (installed in Warsaw( and can say that this resulted in lack of power and poor fuel consumption. Now sorted out though.
