Offline | GPMICK - hello! If you don't mind me asking, which dealer did you take yours into... "Knights" by any chance? I was at the opening of their new Stoke-based 'North' dealership 2 months back, & spotted your GP there, good night wasn't it?! I mentioned to Craig Cole(Knights Group MINI Manager) that night about my GP's flaking paint, so reckon they should be tipped off by this small issue. I know they sold quite a few new & second-hand GPs, and I'm taking mine into Knights' 'South' dealership when I'm back from hols next week to get the bumper off/re-sprayed, etc. Incidentally, they took pics of mine & sent them off to MINI HQ too, which was a few weeks ago now. I haven't had official confirmation that it'll be covered under warranty yet, but I can't see how it wouldn't be! |

Offline | Hi Paul Yes was a good night at Knights Pity we did not meet on the night but there was a lot of people there. The flaking paint will be done there too and as you say they are aware of this problem. Was assured it would be dealt with no problem So i am not worried Will keep you all posted as it progresses. Were you in your GP on the night Craig?? never spotted you |

Offline | Update: Just got my GP back after 2 days following bumper re-spray (under warranty) for the 'flaking paint' issue I reported a few weeks back. Dealer has done a great job & as a result I am a happy, mint-condition GP owner once more! GP also had its first oil inspection (@ c.10k miles using MINI TLC) & all is sweet. Incidentally, I borrowed an almost brand new R56 JCW (192 bhp) for an extended test drive whilst the GP was in: verdict is that although I liked the car, I didn't love it like I do my GP... speed of the new JCW package on the new model MINI is not to be sniffed at, handling OK, comfort & build-quality pretty good too, BUT there's something missing... plus I reckon I would really miss the glorious whine of my supercharger too... so I'm not going to be trading in the GP just yet! Has anyone else had their 'flaking paint' problem fixed btw? |
