you can get the manifold and sports cat from GTT, where the cat is removable and can be replaced with a straight through. problem is with the standard exhaust, the cat is joined to the manifold pipe, so it's not removable.

I've got the gtt manifold and sports cat and it's superb - doubt the decat would make much more difference anyway as sports cats are pretty good.

How much louder is the gtt manifold and sports cat?

the reason i am asking is that I fitted the ebay manifold and decat on saturday but having taken it down the road and realised how loud it was I have taken if off yesterday and fitted the standard one back on.

Just wondering if they are all that loud

Regards

Well it's certainly louder than standard. When I first picked it up I was a bit unsure, in fact I got quite ****ed off on the way home. But after that I realised how awesome it is, absolutely superb.

I have the John Cooper Motorsport 4-2-1 manifold and Sports cat (there is no decat available) it is awesome. The sound is great (fairly loud but refined) the POP POP POP on the overrun is absolutely wicked.

If you decat the popping is even louder and you sometimes get flames if the cars pretty highly tuned

How much did you pay for your JCM manifold? Did you get the intermediate pipe as well or just the 421 and sports cat?

I mite go down this route but just wanted to know that it is not as loud as the one i fitted last weekend, sounded like a boy racer car n i couldn't live with that!!

Does any one have any video clips with the JCM 421 or GTT manifolds fitted?

Is the JCM 421 compatible with the JCW cat back system?

Regards

It is not cheap - Talk to Tony Franks at minimotorsport centre MINI Motorsport Centre
It is also not an easy fit to a GP or an S with JCW one piece welded exhaust.

4-2-1 manifold is nice and long with good flow to the pipes, then comes the sports cat. To fit this to a GP you have to remove the whole exhaust, cut the exhaust where the joint used to be (about 400mm in front of the Y section and throw away the first box, which is actually a resonator not a silencer (MINI in their quest to build cars quickly have this joint welded up by the exhaust supplier so less to do on the assembly line) then you have to recreate the joint, remount the whole rear section of the exhaust and connect everything up again. You also have to have extended leads to the oxygen sensors as everything is moved back by circa 500 mm.

It sounds a bit brutal but the result is incredible both in terms of sound and the torque increase in the mid range - dyno results confirm this.

I can confirm Snowies setup sounds amazing!

Having followed him all the way to Nottingham, the raw noise and popping sounds sensational

Hi Jon

You forgot about the GT 3 sound in the tunnel at Donington

Very true!

I was following Alan through one of the under-track tunnels at Donnington, and as you do, let him travel all the way through the tunnel before I did.

From the other end of the tunnel, with Alan only ever so slightly blipping the throttle, his GP sounded like a GT3 race car firing up
