Im guessing at detonation?

Standard JCW's should run fine on normal 95 ron fuel.

Whats a special occasion??

I run 97 or 99 Octane were possible, idnever put anything less in!

95 Unleaded at 94.9p for 40 litres = £37.96

99 Unleaded at 101.9 for 40 litres = £40.76

Thats £2.08p for better fuel, better running car etc etc.

Your car will adapt to the lower quality fuel (ron is a indication of ignition quality of the fuel)... hence it will be slower most of the time and for the odd tank you put in it won't instantly go back to where it should be.
