Really tempted to the JCW upgrade

a few months ago i was asking about the JCW 210 kit and if it was worth it etc etc etc

now im really tempted, had the 'S' since march and previous was a Cooper for 9 months, seems as if im hit with the power bug as i remember me saying the words "i'm never getting bored of this'' well im not bored just abit thirsty for some more.

Im now used to the 'S' and im looking for something to kick me again when i excelerate

am i just being stupid though? its an everyday car and wont be pushed unless getting up to 70 on a motorway so should i be happy with my lot?

any input is welcome

oh ive been looking at the Alta CIA recently but always hated induction kits as i dont like the whole idea of 'you can hear me coming 8 miles away'

Thanks

100% do it if you can afford it. You'll use the performance much more than you expect.

I added a GTT cold ram filter a while ago and was pleasently suprised that there isn't a massive induction roar, it just makes the charger a bit louder

I've owned MCSC for about the same time as you, I'm thinking of going for the GTT tuning packs rather than the official JCW one, you seem to get far more for your money. You could always keep the money in the bank that you would have spent on the JCW kit just incase something did go wrong with the car.

I have also had a couple of warranty things sorted out with the car, they have fitted a new flywheel/clutch and changed the oil in the diff for me. Not a word has been said about my GTT stutbrace or airfilter.

My JCW MINI is just shipping to me today, but I've been through modifications of 2 Subarus (WRX and LGT). You will kick yourself for not having done the mods sooner. Downside: aforementioned (always too late!) and never enough- it's like a disease. Get a taste of increased torque, better handling, what have you, and you'll soon be yearning for ever more!!!! But it's fun! Go for it!

I pick up my 03 JCW next week.

Dealer used to owna standard cooper s, he recond the works cars were nifht and day, it makes a massive difference.

p.s. couldnt take the grin off my face all day last sa after the test drive, and i rode to and from the test drive on a zx10-r.!!

Do it if you have the spare cash.

the only thing is an aftermarket tuned car is night and day different to a JCW, and most JCW owners end up getting aftermarket bits anyway. When i had mine rolling roaded at 228bhp ( mines a modded MCS) 2 supposedly 210 JCW cars were rolling roaded and both were in the 190's area. The choice is yours

I'd suggest you don't do it primarily because like tintinet I went down this route with my old Impreza and ended up paying as much for modifications as I did for the car which I bought new. The problem is that you embark on a never ending search for the ulimate car and inevitably each modification ends up as an exercise in ever diminishing returns. Expensive as well.

I've vowed never to go down this route again and so far with both the Beemer and the MCS I haven't.
