England Brake air ducts installed

Installed the brake air ducts today, great improvement . I had a 225 mile drive from Lucky Dog Garage who did the install as well as other work ( worth the drive). During the ride home I gave the brakes a good test and they always responded at their best, this is definitely a great improvement to the brakes, no need for a big brake kit now, just some new pads.

I have did mine about 6000 miles ago, it makes a big difference.

It is amazing how many dead flies you find on your wheels and down the scoop intakes

Alan

Thanks for the heads up Alan, I'll make sure I hose through the ducts when I was the car.

The air ducts came from Waymotorsport.com, they were $275. You only need the air duct itself, you wont need the adapter plate( thats what I call it) because you will slide the ducts onto the back of the GP air vent. The inner arch has to partially removed, the front spoiler has to be removed, there is some cutting. You need a couple of plastic ties, but most important a steady hand when cutting out. The project took close to 4 hours total. I will post more pictures of the install when I get home tonight.
If you were ever to consider installing halo lights, you can do this at the same time.

I believe the works motorsport ducts fit too if you can get hold of them.

My ducts came from Tony Franks at MINIMOTORSPORTCENTRE

All you need is the ducts as these will fit directly onto / behind the fake GP air intakes.

Behind the bumper there is some cutting out to do where the fog lamps would mount in the wheel arch liner, the black section behind the scoop needs cutting off and the wheel arch liner needs trimming by the suspension strut. All a little brutal but none of it is visible when you get it all back together

Hi Fabio
It was part of other work I had done - braided hoses, Motor sport rear discs, Mintex 144 pads and race fluid, so I can not be sure on the actual cost of the ducts.

I think that it is somewhere in the range of £130 plus VAT.

Give Tony a call and he will confirm costs plus freight

best regards

Alan

I will be at Watkins Glen for a 2 day intermediate track school in 10 days time, I'll post how the brakes do, so far on above average speeds the ducts have been a nice assett. However before the track event I will be installing stainless steel Brake lines, better fluid and some decent ebc pads and rear rotors.

Just an observation - I have seen Gary's car and this installation is invisible to the casual observer, which is ideal. Very nice - I am sure that will help at Watkins Glen, but the real fast way is not to use the brakes so much!
