JCW Air Filter Change???

I have...

R53 Cooper S with JCW Tuning kit.

Looking at replacement elements for the standard JCW airbox, Only one ive found is THIS FILTER Now it looks like a K&N but dont think it is.

anyway.... Questions are...

1, Do JCW do an official upgrade to the filter? or is it just the paper one?
2, Anyone tried this filter? Anygood?
2, Is there any other options for this? (please don't recommend induction kits only after element)

fankoo!

There's lots of replacement choices in the US.

The filter you've referenced sold by Mini Mania UK for £92.83 VAT included (Mini Mania US sells it for $129.00) looks exactly like the one offered by Mini Madness for $99.00.

Owners in the US are using the Amsoil EaAU3570 and K&N RU-3130 as replacements but I don't know if these are available in the UK.

The RU-3130 retails for around £37 and is a clamp on filter

The other, and best OEM looking / fitting option is the ITG filter from Minspeed in the states.

The other filter that fits and works well is by Green, part no. TA3.85 and retails for around £74.

Made in UK but bought it in US, they posted it over to me.

You will need to buy a cleaning pack to clean it at each service, (detergent & oil), I got some from these guys: EARS Motorsport Ireland Ltd - Fast Road, Rally & Race - Suppliers of

Question curious

Hi Minac,

Are you currently using any of the listed two air filters above? I looking to order the K&N RU-3130 but was wondering if you have had any feedback regarding the upgrade?

PMP has the ITG which I should be getting in the next couple days. £46 delivered. Here's the link

I've got a stock K&N panel filter for sale with only 3-4k miles on it, if anyone is interested .

You have to drill holes in the airbox for GTT, which i don't fancy doing due to the price of the airbox. Minimania or ITG would be better as you don't have to modify the box

Hi Hugo,

Let us know how it goes and if you feel an improvement over the standard JCW filter.

Plus I've done the motorsports mod as well before the airbox went into the car due to not having enough time to fit the wiring.

Minimanias is twice the price of the ITG, so thats why I went for it.

Induction noise is much louder, can runs smoother. Easy to fit too, direct replacement.
