Question Mini JCW Wheel on a GP

I tend to modify many of the vehicles I buy but haven’t had the same urge with the GP, as I believe it’s been tinkered with enough.

One modification I was looking into however was the JCW Alcantra steering wheel.

Has anyone on here had this wheel installed on their Mini? I could really do with some opinions. I’ve test driven a Mini with this steering wheel and it was very comfortable with the extra padding.

They also do one in all leather. Does anyone have any opinions about what is better? I guess much of it is about personal taste.

I believe it’s on sale at NewMiniStuff at £245. Was wondering if anyone knows the average fitting costs at a Mini dealer and whether there would be any issues installing this on a Mini GP.

Hope you guys can help.

This is on my list of things. I don't think there is any issue at all. As far as I am aware your current airbag works the same in this new wheel, and you just need the CF central piece.

It's a straight swap for your MFSW.

I think Rakey is having it fitted, or has had it fitted. I remember him saying he was interested in it.

I have the all-leather on GPMINI - it's gorgeous
It's a little thicker and a little softer than the stock steering wheel, and it makes ALL the difference ...

Initial thoughts on the steering wheel:

Try Derek Woodman's MINI. I think they have a discount on the wheel too, and although I have never used them I have heard only good things.

Bought mine for £214 after a little prompting and getting a good deal from my Stealers. Love he wheel but if you get the Alcantara you will need to gently clean it every now and then as general grease of your hands will dirty it

All very easy to do. Also fitted mine myself.

Had one on my GP and I was astonished at the difference it made. On top of being lovely to hold and feeling nice and chunky, it made the car feel much more planted to the road. Best mod ever. I had the all leather one and it was made of the nice quality soft nappa leather.......lovely. As for cost.....it was free.

Had it fitted on Friday, £238 was the price I paid, and its the best money I've spent for ages, it makes for more comfortable and confident driving, and is essential on the GP with the tramlining from the 18's

Only trouble is that the other half now wants one on her MCS too

I didn't mean it

Rakey - Was that £238 fitted? If not, do you remember what the fitting charge was?

Mikey - Any chance you might be able to do me a deal for the all leather version. I'll send you a PM if possible.

Ordered the full leather JCW steering wheel from NewMiniStuff, as Mike was very helpful.

Hope to have it soon and will report back if anyone is interested.

I guess if anyone wants a standard 3 spoke wheel there will be one available soon!!!
